This summer, Camp Halfblood has found itself a new dynamic duo. Chiron watches intently as two demigods slash their swords at each other. Metal cuts through fabric and skin but neither give in. It's a battle of the best, two of the camp's strongest warriors. Everyone couldn't wait to see who would win.

Percy Jackson eyes his opponent, a sly smirk creeping on his lips at their battered state. "Not so tough now, huh, Wise Girl?"

Annabeth Chase sneers. "You know, if my brain was constantly filled with water like yours, I'd think you had a shot at winning."

They fight with precision and skill. Both demigods had significantly grown in popularity among their peers in the last few weeks. Through training, duels, and cabin leader meetings, they quickly made their way up the ranks.

They'd taken the places of the ones before them, and the Chase girl would do anything to keep her spot.

She grunts, slashing her sword at his shoulder. Blade meets flesh, red seeping through torn fabric. Percy wields his sword, confidence backing his every movement as he picks up his pace. Although he's had less training and experience than Annabeth, his instincts seemed to be much better.

She was no match for him at this moment as she becomes tired. She swings her blade haphazardly, arms growing weak.

Swiftly, Percy knocks her sword from her loose grip and presses the tip of his blade to her throat. Annabeth's gaze is hard. Narrowed. Her chest heaves as she tries to hold her ground. The Jackson boy tilts his head, a knowing smirk spreading across his lips.

"The longer we stand here, the worse this looks for you," he teases.

She huffs. "You're really enjoying this, aren't you?"

A pause as they look at each other. Percy takes a step back and lowers his weapon. Annabeth's back straightens in response. The crowd of demigods begin to clap for the performance, and the Chase girl finally cracks a smile as Percy wraps his arms around her waist.

He plants a chaste kiss to her temple. "I'll let you win next time," he grins.

"Oh, wow," her hand flies over her heart, "how chivalrous of you."

     "I'm kind of a gentleman-"

"What an interesting duel." Chiron makes himself known as the crowd begins to clear out.

Annabeth waves. "Hey, Chiron. It's a little early for you to be making your rounds, don't you think?"

The Centaur's schedule had changed a lot from what it used to be. Now, he was more hands on with his duties: patrolling the camp, meetings twice a week with cabin leaders and camp counselors, head counts and time sheets and quest-logging.
