in my peripheral vision ||THREE YEAR OLD LUCY HART, put on her sparkly white dress, and little black heels. her mother had set the outfit out on her young daughters bed, for the hart families annual christmas party to which they invited most of the town of hawkins to. the harts were probably one of if not the richest in the small town, and everyone looked forward to their parties all year.
the young girl attempted to clip a hair bow into her hair, but she couldn't figure out how to get it on the right way so she ran down the stairs in her dress and little heels to her mother and father. "mommy, daddy, i can't get me bow in." she said in a little voice as she held it out to both of her parents, "can you help me please?"
"in a little bit, we have more important things to do right now lucille." her dad rolled his eyes, pushing his way past his three year old daughter, the little girl stumbling to the floor at the man's push.
"oh, okay." she mumbled looking down, "mommy can you help me?"
"come here darling." the hart woman said, helping the girl up from the floor, taking thr bow from her and clipping it into her hair, "now run along lucy, people are gonna get here soon, go get some juice boxes from our pantry there are gonna be a few kids here for you to hang out with."
"okay mommy!" the girl smiled widely, running off to grab her juice boxes, grabbing one for herself and then putting the rest of them down next to the counter. she grabbed a little step stool and put it next to the counter, stepping up to the top step of it to get the juice boxes up there as she couldn't reach there herself.
"what are you doing standing up there?" a voice sounded from behind her, startled, she lost her balance on the step stool and fumbled onto the ground with a little thud. she heard the voice behind her start laughing at her and turned around to see a boy around her age, she sat on the ground with an angry frown on her face, "im steve."
"i didn't ask you for your name." she replied, her arms crossed as she got herself up off the ground, wiping at her dress, "but i'm lucy."
"i didn't ask for your name." the boy replied, making the brunette girl scrunch up her eyebrows and walk away from him angrily
"lucille, come here sweetheart." she heard her moms voice, and walked over to her, steve followed her, "i want to introduce you to some friends of mine." lucy looked up at a couple around her parents age and smiled shyly at them, "this is mr. and mrs. harrington, your father and i's close friends."
"hi.." she whispered shyly, sticking to her moms side, hiding behind her a little
"they have a son you can hang out with here for a bit if you'd like to." she told her, motioning to the boy from the kitchen who was now standing next to her moms friends
"i met him in the kitchen." she replied in a quiet voice, "he scared me and made me fall off the step stool."
"im sure it was an accident, just go get to know him luce." her mom told her, smiling down at her daughter, "show him around maybe."
"it was an accident, im sorry." the boy, who she remembered said his name had been steve, apologized, a little smile on his face, "i didn't mean to scare you."
