Rosalie woke up shaking after her nightmare. One about being picked in the Reaping. One about still being in District 7.
She always got like this on Reaping Day. Ever since the first one. It's not like her name was ever entered in, goodness no. Her mother would go insane.
During the war, her father had died in the middle of the woods, hanging from the trees in a rebel trap. Rosalie's mother made it clear she would never let her be hurt by a rebel or the Capitol.
Her father and mother supplied building wood and stones to the Capitol, and saved their money up and up. Once her mother had sorted it all out, she bought them into the Capitol, cutting everyone from 7 out of their lives.
Rosalie always wanted to go back, no matter how scared she was of the rebels. She cried for days and weeks and months before she got used to her life here. It, however, was an upgrade from 7. There was good food, clean streets, no snakes. Snakes were one of Rosalie's biggest fears back in 7, always scared one would jump out at her as she climbed a tree.
Rosalie got out of bed and stretched, letting her body get used to the feeling of being awake. As she got out of bed, her personal Avox had walked in, signaling that the chef made breakfast.
"I'll be right down." Her smile is warm and friendly as the Avox leaves the room. She looked out the window, the buildings across from her still being reconstructed from the war. She looked down at the streets, her eyes eventually making their way to the academy.
She was a star student there. Perfect grades, perfect attendance. Although she was a year younger than everyone, having just turned 17, they still saw her as their peer.
Realizing how much time she'd spent staring at the school, she quickly got changed. It was a beautiful dress, the hem of it reaching her knees. The dark green dress went along well with her hair.
She softly brushed her hair, not wanting it to get puffy and just stay in it's natural waves. She sits down at her vanity and starts to do her makeup, only putting on her skin care and mascara. Before going downstairs, she puts on deodorant and lipgloss.
As she goes down the steps, she sees her mother sitting next to the kitchen island, a cup of coffee in her hands. A warm smile shines on her face as she sees Rosalie.
"Oh baby, you look so beautiful." She goes up to her and plants a kiss on her forehead, making Rosalie giggle. "Thank you , mom."
They both sit down at the island, the chef putting their plates down. Rosalie's stomach grumbled as she saw the delicious food. A bowl with yogurt, plates with cut up fruits, another plate with bacon and another with eggs.
"Since today is such an important day, I had the chef make all your favorites. I hope you like it sweetie." Rosalie hugged her mom and smiled as she took a cut up strawberry and ate it.
Rosalie ate till she physically couldn't anymore. The food was just too good. After she finished, she got up and cleaned her plates. The Avox tried to stop her, signaling she would do it.
"Please, let me do it. You do so much already." The Avox smiled as she heard that and bowed slightly in a way of showing thanks. As Rosalie finished cleaning, she went up to her mom and hugged her goodbye.
"You aren't taking the car?" She shook her head. "It's Reaping Day, I want the driver to take the day off, and I ate a big breakfast. I've gotta burn some of the calories off."
Her mom and her said goodbye as she walked out. The air was fresh as she walked out, a warm breeze sending her hair back. It was July and the anniversary of when the Capitol won the war.
