There was purpose in the air as they walked out of Hotch's office. They had been arguing back and forth, and after finally deciding on a way to move forward, Lydia finally felt like there was something happening to save Anna. Even if what was happening was seeing her mother.

As they exited the room, the team had been sporadically working on various tasks throughout the bull pen. Last she checked they were in the round table room, so they must've been in Hotch's office longer than she thought.

Spencer and Morgan stood at the desks and talked over a file. Their faces looked determined and when Spencer's eyes met Lydia's as they walked by, they became puzzled. Especially as Hotch stopped beside them, looking up from his cellphone that he had been texting on since they left his office.

"What's going on?" Spencer asked in Hotch's direction. He still wasn't speaking to Lydia but still found himself worried.

"We are going to speak with Rachel Cain." Hotch stopped their pace as they began their questioning.

"And Lydia is going?" Spencer sounded somewhat irritated by the decision their superior was making.

"Is that a problem?" His narrowed eyebrow quirked, seemingly offended by Spencer's accusatory tone.

Spencer looked dumbfounded. "Actually it is. She's too personally tied to this case."

Lydia felt her face get hot from anger. He was yet again making his stance known on a matter that didn't concern him. He should be happy, she's confronting her past as he so badly wanted to uncover earlier in the day.

"Kid, Beowulf can handle herself." Morgan surprisingly held out a gesturing hand in support. He seemed angry at the brunette the last they had interacted, this was a strange turn of events.

"—and it is quite frankly, none of your business." She finished Morgan's thought matter of factly. It was a childish play, but she was not above childish antics when it came to Spencer. Especially out of desperation.

"I just think it's a bad idea." Spencer sighed and shook his head. She could see the rage bubbling, though it was subtle as he turned to her. "Are you sure you want to do this?"

It wasn't as though she was going through with it as a reckless act, in fact, she didn't want to see her mom at all. But she'd be damned if she let Anna slip through her fingers because of formalities of the bureau. She ignored his question and stared down at her feet.

"Regardless, it's my idea. Me and Beowulf are going to meet with Rachel and that is final. Are we clear?" Hotch ordered in that familiar demanding tone. If Lydia knew anything about Hotch, it's that he got his way in regard to his orders.
