Noah's POV:
Throughout the class, I couldn't resist teasing Mia, watching her adorable annoyance make my heart swell. My baby is just so cute! But as Mrs. Das announced the weekend project, my playful demeanor turned to worry. What if Mia got paired up with someone else? No, that couldn't happen. Please, God, let Mia be paired up with me, I pleaded silently.
Mrs. Das's next words sent a rush of relief through me. " Tia with Sam and Jake, Maya with Nash and Ariyana, and finally, Mia with Noah and Eva." Said Mrs das. Yes! Thank you, God! Finally, it's Mia and me. Though we won't be alone, it's still going to be me and Mia, I thought with a grin, acknowledging the presence of another girl named Eva.
As the bell rang, signaling the end of class, I couldn't wait to start working on the project with Mia by my side. Whatever it was, Mia and I would make it fun. And who knows, maybe Eva would surprise us too. But for now, I was just grateful to have Mia as my partner.
As Mia got up, I playfully caught hold of her hand, grinning. "Well, looks like you're stuck with me," I said with a wink, noticing Mia's cheeks turn even redder. God, she's so cute!
Suddenly, Eva burst in with her exuberant energy, introducing herself loudly. "Hey guys! Hi, I'm Eva. This is so cool we're paired up together!" she exclaimed, clearly excited about our group.
I couldn't help but inwardly groan at the thought of Eva being part of our trio. I leaned in towards Mia, murmuring, "Why is she paired up with us?" But Mia just gave me a look and gestured for me to quiet down.
Mia nervously greeted Eva, her introverted nature evident. Remembering what Sam had said about Mia being shy, I decided to step in and help her out. "Hi, I'm Noah," I introduced myself, putting on a fake smile.
Eva's response caught me off guard. "Yes, of course I know you, Noah," she said, eyeing me up and down. Wait, was she flirting with me? I smiled awkwardly, unsure of how to respond.
Then Eva suggested exchanging numbers for planning our project meeting, complete with a flirty wink. Glancing at Mia out of the corner of my eye, I noticed her expression-annoyed? Jealous? What was going on in her head? I couldn't help but feel a mix of confusion and happiness.
Before I could lose control completely, I halted the kiss, gazing into Mia's eyes with sincerity. "Mia, I know this all happened too quickly, but believe me, I've fallen in love with you, Mia Edwards," I confessed, cupping her cheeks gently. "Please give me one chance. I promise you won't regret it, Mia."
"N-Noah?" Mia stammered, her voice filled with uncertainty.
"Yes, baby?" I replied, looking at her with affection.
"What do you see in me? Why would you fall for a girl like me when you can get any girl you want? Someone who's gorgeous and slim," Mia asked sadly.
I reached for her wrist, noticing the cuts that marred her skin, and kissed each one tenderly. "Baby, you're perfect just the way you are. I love your eyes, your nose, your cheeks, your kissable lips, your scars, your pure heart. Mia, when you're in front of me, I can't see anyone else. That's how much I love you," I reassured her, pressing a gentle kiss to her forehead.
"Noah, I don't want to get my heartbroken. I won't be able to handle that," Mia said sadly, a tear slipping down her cheek.
"Mia, baby, I will never hurt you or let anyone else do so. You mean a lot to me," I assured her, gently wiping away her tears. Mia looked at me and nodded in response. She reached out to wipe my tear, and seeing her cry made my heart ache even more.
"Yes, I'll give you a cha-" Mia's voice was cut off by the sound of her phone ringing.
"Hello? Mum!?" Mia answered the call, her gaze flickering nervously towards me. "Yes, I'll be there soon. I'm on my way. Okay, bye, love you," she said before ending the call.
"What happened?" I asked, concern evident in my voice.
"Um, my aunt has come home, so Mum wants me to go home soon as she will be back a little late from work," Mia explained nervously.
"Oh, okay," I replied, feeling relieved. "Come on, let's go then. I'll drop you home," I offered.
"No! Noah, I'll go by myself, please. If my aunt sees us together, she will make a huge scene," Mia protested, fear evident in her voice.
"Okay, fine. But call me once you reach home, baby," I insisted, giving her a wink before reluctantly letting her go.
"Mia! You didn't continue what you were saying earlier," I called out as she walked away.
She turned around, a shy smile gracing her lips. "I'll tell you the next time we meet," she promised before walking away.
She's going to be the death of me, I thought to myself with a huge smile.
