Lev and Kenji were like two peas in a pod. They were together forever, never apart for long.At least for now.
They met when they were 6,both first graders in elementary school. Most of the kids were older than Lev as he had gotten into school a year early thanks to his mother's diligent consistent visits to the principal to get him a place. The teacher had instructed the class to speak to each other and spend the day breaking the ice between each other because it was their first day and they'd be remaining with each other for the foreseeable future,so it was best to get comfortable for the future.
Lev was chatting away busily with a medium sized group children, who had subconsciously around him as he told them stories. Lev was always good with people,he didn't really think through his words,he showed things through action.
However, the small crowd wasn't what piqued his interest at the moment. He saw a boy who was shorter than him with dark curly hair sitting in a bean bag chair colouring. And something about him,it made him go into an almost trance state as he lost control of his legs,he just watched himself walk up to him and begin to speak.
"Hello,my name is Lev.What is your name??"
Lev spoke to him excitedly with a huge grin on his face.Lev was often described as sunny, able to brighten even the stormiest of people like it was nothing. He was always happy, well he had no reason not to be, he had a great life. A well off loving family, and was always known as a "handsome young boy" and "such a charmer" and even had a cute dog, what else could anyone want??
The darker haired boy gave a nod of acknowledgement to the blond before he spoke.
"Hi,my name is Kenji,Kenji Sato."
Lev smiled at him brightly and plopped down beside him on the bean bag chair, giggling happily.
"That is a very pretty name Kenji,it suits you!"
he watched the dark haired boys face for a reaction, and there it was.The smallest smile Lev had ever seen was tugging the corner of his lip. And yet it was so much better than any other.
That was the very first moment of their extraordinarily unique bond.
They grew closer and closer with every single passing day, they stuck to each other like glue. Lev would make sure Kenji was included in class matters at all times by shifting the focus to him as often as he could , and Kenji kept his Lev's constant hyper energy from bouncing off the walls of the school.
One day Lev came home after school and once again he sat by the kitchen table, telling his mother all about how amazing his day was with Kenji as he began his homework. His mother had picked up quite fast that this Kenji was important to her son, and from what she had experienced he was an absolute delight to have around.
"You know my little sunshine, we're hosting a ball pretty soon, how about you invite this Kenji boy to stay over for the ball?? You usually seem quite bored at them because none of the people are really your age,it might be nice hm??"
Lev's big tourmaline eyes lit up and sparkled like a starry sky as he ran over to his mother, giving her a big hug.
"No way mumma, really??! Oh thank you thank you thank you!!!"
