A red blur filled the air as the moon hummed. A sword was pulled before something was sliced apart.

"Nicely done."

A redhead boy slowly caught his breath as he joined his family, who was getting set for breakfast.

"I know. You can sleep after eating." He nodded as he sat down.

"But why?"

"Dijon!"

The redhead was silent as he looked away. They wanted to send him to Ranger School. He didn't mind, but they thought he was talking back to them.

"I just want to know why. I'll go, but why?" His mother sighed.

"The rangers have no night protection." That made way more sense. He nodded with understanding. And he knew where she was going with that. Him, a kid, being put in would make it easier than an adult. "Excellent."
