Tim sat on the couch, swallowed by the darkness.
He heard a light thud against the door and the sound of keys jingling.
The light flicked on as Tamara stepped, no, stumbled into the apartment.
Tim turned his head towards her. Tamara's eyes widened in fear as she saw him still awake.
"Trying to sneak in?" Tim asked.
"What? No!" Tamara voice was slurred.
Tim got off the couch and stood a few metres in front of her.
"Walk in a straight line to me." Tim instructed her sternly.
"Whaaat? Nooo. I dont need to do that, I'm fine." She tried to walk to her room but Tim blocked her.
"Now."
"Fiiiinnee." Tamara said as she began to step towards Tim.
She tripped over her own feet halfway through and began to fall. Tim lunged forward and caught her just before she hit the floor.
"You've been drinking." Tim said, stating the obvious.
Tamara looked at him for a moment, lip quivering.
"I'm sorry!" She burst out. "It was stupid! I was at my friends party and they were all drinking and I just-" She looked back up at Tim, tears forming in her eyes. "I'm so sorry."
"It's okay." He brushed her hair down.
She sobbed into his chest for a while before the door opened once more and Lucy entered.
"What happened? Are you okay, T?" Lucy rushed over, concerned.
The tears had stopped now but Tamara didn't have it in her to tell Lucy what happened.
"She got drunk." Tim spoke for her.
"What! Tamara, how many times have I told you-" She paused, seeing her tear stained cheeks. "Just don't do it again, okay?"
Tamara nodded weakly in response, tired from her long night of drinking.
"Go to bed." Lucy gave permission and Tamara left the room. "You helped her?" She asked Tim once Tamara was gone.
Tim shrugged, causing Lucy to smile.
"Thank you." Lucy told him. "That was really good of you." She wrapped her hands around his waste.
"She's like our daughter. I would do anything for her." He stated.
"I know you would, Dadford." She joked, he chuckled at the name. She lowered her head to rest on his chest and closed her eyes.
She couldn't think about what he would be like when they had kids of their own someday.
