Panic sets in as the blood that was softly humming through my system, automatically pumps in sudden alertness in my head.
Impulsiveness snap my eyes open as my body, sways across the coldness of the...water? what the fuck!
I blink rapidly while twisting my neck around, stunned at the fact that I was almost in the middle of the Amazon river, through a gasp, the water slips into my mouth, drifting down my throat.
My body began to descend, subside into the water, the sunset across the skies reflected a orange hue on the rippling surface, it slips into my eyes, bringing twinkling droplets of water as the weight from my back pack, pulled me deeper into the cold water body.
The beauty of the sunset reflecting against the water would have allowed me to be more appreciative but, in this moment, in this time and space, I was far from that.
On both sides of the river, there situated thick tall forest trees, it glooms a darkness that was uninviting but my survival matters the most at the moment when I realize that another night was about to step in which meant that I was knock out from the previous night rain storm for more than ten hours.
The pressure of the water was fast flowing as it collided into my body, it sent shock waves of pain into my body as it slid up my nostrils.
Lucky for me, this side of the river was not that deep so I was able to drag my body across the water to the nearest edge of the river in my reach.
My left knee pulsate as I tried to fight against the fast and heavy water current, so to ease the pressure, I pulled off my back pack which held my clothes, a knife, guns, a lemon based insect repellent for my skin, an electronic charger as well as a battery pack, first aid kit and additionally another GPS unit that Achille gave to both Ria and I, to pin-point our location so that when we find his son, he'd be able to track the journey and rescue us.
With my backpack in hand, I tried my best to ignore the pulsating pain in my knee and hop over to the edge, the water flashes up into the air and hit against my arms and bare bra chest as I stumbled in every pace.
Holding unto the edge with one hand, I swing my bag up to the ground, it landed in a thud. I used my good knee as momentum to lift me up on the edge, so, I bend it up to the ground and began to pull my body up.
The water rock into my side, I helplessly grunted as the heavy current of the water snap into my bruised knee to pull me away from my escape, I didn't give into it's determination as I apply pressure and drag my body up, my chest lowered to the wet grass as I came up from the water fully and I couldn't help but sigh, thankful that I made it.
Instant fluttering of the birds, maneuver over the head of the tall trees which surrounded me as I stand.
I quickly took out the GPS unit, praying inwardly that the thing would not be affected like the one I was using last night.
I blew out a frustrated breath when I notice that it was filled with water, I was beginning to think that this damn mission was a big no, no from start.
Why didn't I trust my instinct when it told me to decline Achille's offer?
A mean, I might be wasting my time, trying to search for someone who might be dead.
The amazon forest is the world's largest tropical rainforest, which was home to multitude of species.
So why the heck did I think that I was Dwayne Johnson worthy to do this shit! and to make matters complicative, Achille son's jet accident happened twenty years ago, after all the man could be dead while I was here risking it all for what?
