"WhaaaaAAAAAAT THE FUCK?!"
"Hey hey hey calm down!" The person had begun to panic.
"HOW THE HELL AM I SUPPOSED TO CALM DOWN?!"
"Just-just be quiet for a minute!"
"WHY DO YOU HAV-MMPH! MMMH!" A hand had covered my mouth. Struggling just made it worse, so I reluctantly complied.
"Listen, I don't need the entire town to hear you screaming your ass off. If you shut up, I'll let you go."
Once they had stopped, the winged person? creature? dropped their hand. They stepped back, wiping their hand on their jeans. "Eww why'd you have to lick my hand? That's disgusting!"
"Um, I don't know, uh, bye!" And then, I ran. It seemed like the only rational decision. I could hear the shouts of the kid wanting for me to stay behind me. Even if I wanted to stay, my legs wouldn't let me. Everything around me was a blur. I couldn't tell where I was going until I stopped.
I arrived near the park, out of breath with my thoughts racing faster than they ever have.
Who was that?
What was that?
Am I dreaming?
What if it was just a really convincing cosplay?
What if I'm just hallucinating?
Am I on something?
Calm down and get ahold of yourself, Cosmo!
I tried to find a good explanation, but every excuse sounded weaker and more unbelievable than the thing I was trying to make an excuse for. Nothing seemed right. Nothing here was explainable. The picnic I was planning seemed a lot less enjoyable now. I ended up going home to think things over.
--------
Things started happening.
Holy shit did things start happening.
It started as what I thought was my mind playing tricks on me. A few things that could be nothing, like shadows moving in the corner of my eye. But it quickly escalated into HOLY FUCK IS THAT A DRAGON?!
When Cosmo left their house for school on Monday morning, they were kindly greeted with a twenty-foot tall, navy scaled dragon staring back at them. The creature's breath was like strong winds, messing up their hair and almost knocking them over. As you would probably guess, this is something that they were certainly not expecting.
"Hey Cosmo-woah, are you okay?"
Somehow, Cosmo's friends hadn't noticed the strange things happening around them, even after Cosmo told them about it almost dozens of times. Their friends couldn't see the creatures through their eyes, pictures, or videos. They were starting to think something was wrong with them. More than usual, of course.
"Uhhh yeah, yeah I'm okay." I inched my way around the dragon, its violet eyes following my movement. It sent a chill down my spine.
"You sure you're not becoming schitzophrenic?"
"Yes Lemon, I'm sure, now let's go already." But, to be honest, I wasn't sure. Maybe that kid wasn't real. Maybe none of the things I've been seeing are real. Maybe I'm only seeing things because I met that kid. Were those wings real? What would it be like to fly? Why is this happening to me?
School was no different than usual. Other than seeing some things. In English class, I noticed two inhuman footprints embedded near the window, giving off an odd smell. In History, there was a family of bipedal rat-hedgehog looking creatures, building a hut out of books and papers in the corner of the room. During lunch, a floating inky blob tried to steal one of my Oreos. I figured that it would be best to let the thing take it.
