"i just decided to get it now to make it kind of a reward." delilah sat cross legged on the floor of the hale house, dust covering her already worn jeans, muddy converse staining each other. "for what?" derek eyed scott curiously, his red eyes showing so he could see the tattoo hiding underneath scott's tanned skin. stiles stood off to the side, arms crossed over his chest, his teeth pulling at his bottom lip. "he pined for allison all summer instead of texting her and professing his undying love." delilah was pulling at her shoelaces, a small smile on her lips.

the silence made the girl look up, the three men around her eyeing her pointedly. "what? scooter, you've been pining." scott couldn't help but hold a warm smile as he looked at the brunette. "pain's gonna be worse than anything you've ever felt. delilah you might want to stand outside." the brunette stood from her seat on the floor, stiles instantly moving towards her to help brush down her jeans.

"i can handle it. i'm tough." she said indignantly.

"you cry when you get a paper cut. outside." delilah pouted at the older man, sticking her tongue out and stomping away from the trio.

it didn't take long for scott's screams to echo around the broken down home, eyes turning yellow as derek burned away layers of his skin. stiles looked away, his grip faltering on his friend's shoulders. "looks pretty damn permanent now."

"it's pretty." delilah was in awe as she ran her fingers gently across the caramel boy's arm, as he pulled her gently underneath it, ruffling her hair as he did so. "i needed something permanent. everything's so...ephemeral."

"studying for the psats?" stiles eyed his friend, making sure to keep an eye on the girl tucked into his side. "yup." delilah chuckled from underneath the boy's arm, looking towards the raven haired beauty beside her. "i haven't even started studying."

"you can have my notes, dee." stiles smiled at the girl, a pang pulsing in his heart when she gave him a toothy grin. "love you." he smiled again, wider this time.

"you painted the door. why'd you paint the door?" scott moved delilah from under his arm, running his fingers down the freshly red door. derek didn't live in the hale house anymore, so why would he bother to paint the door? "go home, scott." scott continued his investigation, flicking his claws out and beginning to scratch at the paint on the door.

"why only one side?" by the time scott was finished, paint had flicked into delilah's hair, as stiles stood trying to pull the red flakes from her ringlets. "the birds at school. the deer last night. just like the night i got bit by the alpha. how many are there?" the brunette girl shook her head violently like a wet dog, smiling up at stiles, who placed a chaste kiss on her head. (she wished it wasn't chaste)

"a pack of 'em. an alpha pack." derek sighed, and suddenly the bags under his eyes became a lot more prevalent to the naked eye. "all of them? how does that work?"

"is there a girl? i haven't met a woman alpha yet. a shalpha! she-alpha." delilah clapped her hands, which was quickly stopped by stiles pulling one of her hands into his own, holding it by their sides. "your endless optimism makes my head hurt, dee." the girl looked down at her shoes quietly.

"i hear there's some kind of a leader. deucalion."

"hey pumpkin

"hey pumpkin." the older man had a small smile on his lips, leaning down to kiss the brunette girl on the head. "hi daddy." there was a grin on delilah's lips as she looked up at her father, clad neatly in his deputy's uniform, satchel hanging over his broad shoulders.

"there's lasagna in the fridge. melissa sent it over via scooter." the girl was quietly reading a book on the couch, a small orange cat curled up at her feet, rubbing its head against her ankle every so often. "ah, yes. how are my other children?" delilah placed the book down, spinning around to look at her father in the kitchen.

"scott got a tattoo." rick's ears perked at this, spinning to face his smiley daughter. "don't tell me it's something stupid like allison's name?" the man let out a sigh, rubbing the bridge of his nose while pushing the lasagna into the microwave. his mouth was practically watering at the smell of melissa's cooking, a frequent occurrence in the hanby household. they were well taken care of.

"no, daddy. it's two bands around his bicep. i don't actually know what it means but it's pretty." the deputy let out a hum at his daughter's response, the ding of the microwave alerting him to finally be able to have some well deserved food. "and how's my future son in law?" the girl rolled her eyes at her father, getting ready to pick up her book once again.

"stiles is not your future son in law! but he's good. he bought me mcdonald's today." rick let out a chuckle, a mouthful of lasagna in his mouth as he gave his daughter a cheeky grin. "didn't he buy you food from mario's the other day? and hand delivered it to you because you were quote 'falling apart without pepperoni'?"

"he was coming over anyway! he's such a good guy. he and melissa single handedly keep us fed. speaking of melissa, daddy. don't you think she'd make a really good step mom for me? oh my god! and then scooter could be my brother!"

rick let out a hearty laugh at the girl, eyes tightly shut, hand clasping his side. "easy, tiger. me and melissa bonded over our unruly children. i think she was just happy that scott had a female friend."

"but she's so pretty, daddy!"

"yes, sweetheart, she's very pretty. but you're only saying this because you want scott to be your brother." rick couldn't help the grin that spread across his face whenever he looked at his daughter, but his heart ached too. she was the spitting image of her mother.

"what's so bad about that? i love scooter, you love scooter, melissa loves scooter, melissa loves me, you love me, scooter loves me. why cant you and melissa love each other?"

"go to bed, pumpkin."
