Psst! Psst!

I open my eyes to a very bright light shining in them, "Hello?" I croak out.

The light moves away from my eyes and I can now clearly see the culprit, "Get out of bed, Charlie!" Fred whispers.

"Why?"

"We need to talk." He pulls the sheets off of me, "Come on!"

"How did you even get in here?" I slide my feet into my slippers.

"That's a secret." Fred presses a finger to his lips.

"Are you going to tell me where we're going?" I ask as we exit the hospital wing.

He grabs my wrist, "You'll never come with me if I tell you that."

"That makes me feel so much more at ease," I say sarcastically.

Fred drags me through halls, down several flights of stairs, and out a small back door. The night air is cold and my body starts to shiver right away.

"Here take this." Fred takes off his scarf with his free hand and gives it to me. I wrap it around my neck loosely with one hand.

The snow soaks through my slippers and I begin to lose feeling in my toes, "Fred, I'm going to freeze out here!" I stop walking, making him abruptly stop.

He whips around with his wand pointed at me. There is a rush of heat and my body is warmed. The feeling lasts only a couple of seconds before the cold air around us starts to freeze my bones again.

"Are you going to tell me where we're going?" I rub my hand over my arm in an attempt to retain some body heat.

"We're here." Fred stands at the edge of the frozen Black Lake.

"Why are we here?" I stand in line next to him.

He shrugs, "It's quiet."

"No...The real reason you brought me here."

He shifts away from the water and turns to look directly at me. I keep my body turned toward the frozen lake.

"You know why I brought you here." He states.

"To drown me." I chuckle nervously, making a plume of steam appear in front of me. Fred frowns at my joke and I say, "Sorry, I was just trying to diffuse the tension."

"Why did you lie to them?" Fred jumps straight to the point and it makes my heart rate increase, "I don't know what you're talking about." I finally turn to meet his gaze.

"Charlie." His eyes shift back and forth between mine, "I know that what you told us today wasn't true. I can see it in you. You're haunted. Something like bad emotional control doesn't make you like that." He looks off to the lake, "I saw the way you looked when you stood in front of that boggart." He clenches his jaw, "It scared me."

"I... I..."

"I'm not forcing you to tell me. I just think it would be better for you to tell someone what is going on in that crazy head of yours."

"My parents are dead." I blurt out.

Fred's head snaps in my direction. A soft pink colouring has spread across his cheeks and nose from the cold, "Charlie, I-"

"It's okay." I stop him, "The boggart I saw was my front door the night my parents died... House fire... I didn't even get to say goodbye." I tell half of the truth.

Fred opens and closes his mouth like a fish out of water. I continue, "That day in the bathroom. I lost it. I threw a curse at the wall and it was a bit more explosive than I thought it would be." I lie.
