The Fireworks Festival burst with life and energy. The crowd of smiling people rained colors with each costume. I couldn't help but grin at all the colorful sights and sounds surrounding me at the Triangle Park. Tila ba nasa ibang mundo ako kung saan walang bahid ng kalungkutan, purong kasiyahan lamang.
"You look good," said Arrow as he stared at my costume.
"You too," I responded.
"A devil in a wheelchair pushing by an angel?" he asked. "Definitely ironic."
"Let's say, an angel pushing a handsome devil," I said.
He drew a smile and we continued strolling the Triangle Park. Arrow and I flitted from booth to booth, eager to experience it all. When we came across a booth with a variety of carnival games, we took a moment to try it all. We took turns at the ring toss, milk bottle pyramid, and balloon dart game. Nakakapagod, ngunit ang gawin ito ng kasama si Arrow ay isang bagay na kaya kong gawin ng paulit-ulit.
"It's time for the feast," said Arrow.
"Free dinner?" I asked.
"Yes," he answered. "Tara na sa likod ng clock tower dahil doon din magaganap ang concert."
As he said, we went to the venue of the feast and concert, behind the clock tower. Habang papunta ay natanaw namin sina Dandrix at Colton na papalapit sa'min.
"Bakit ngayon lang kayo?" tanong ko.
"Ito kasing si Colton, ang haba ng tulog," sagot ni Dandrix.
"Pasensya na," malumanaw na sabi ni Colton. "Bumawi naman ako 'di ba?"
"Bumawi?" tanong ni Arrow. "Anong klaseng bawi?"
The two had a quick exchanging of looks, as if they were throwing words with their eyes.
"Ah... Wala," saad ni Dandrix. "Nag-uwi kasi siya ng isang box ng jelly bean at ibinigay ni'ya sa'kin."
"May pasalubong ka kay Dandrix, pero sa'min ay wala?" reklamo ko.
Colton scratched his head. "I'm sorry. I didn't really have enough time to shop there."
"Hayaan mo na," sambit ni Arrow. "Kung ako rin naman ay uunahin ko ang pasalubong ko para sa'yo kaysa sa ibang tao."
While saying those words, he was giving Colton and Dandrix an intriguing smile. We hadn't confirm what's going on between the two, so I thought, I had to agree with Arrow's suspicions because of the weirdness of our friends.
"Kumain na nga lang tayo dahil maguumpisa na ang concert mamaya," sabi ni Colton, at alam kong sinadya niyang baguhin ang usapan.
"I agree," followed Dandrix. "Let's go!"
We all gathered around the long table, eager to see the feast before us. There were fried chicken wings, bowls of colorful vegetables, baskets of warm and crusty bread, and chocolate pies for dessert. We took our plates and filled it with delicious food. Tutulungan ko sana si Arrow, ngunit nakita ko ang determinasyon niyang kumuha ng sarili niyang pagkain.
