I sat on a smooth rock, boredly doodling on a notepad I had brought. You see, I went with MK to watch him train.. again. Though, it didn't feel like he was learning anything, breaking down a stone wall with a hammer. It was more like he was doing chores, really. I sighed to myself and shook my head. I wasn't the best artist, but I was bored so that didn't matter- I just sketched out a replica of the mural on the wall. It depicted a painting of the Journey To The West gang, Zhu Bajie, Sun Wukong, Ao Lie, Sha Wujing, and Tang Sanzang.

I glanced over at Monkey King, seeing him lazing about on his Somersault Cloud. "You know, when I found out I was going to be trained by the Monkey King, Great Sage, Equal to Heaven, I had no idea that I'd be stuck here-" MK spoke out, before pausing. "-hammering walls 12 hours a day! Why am I doing this again?!" He continued, clearly frustrated. He threw the hammer aside. "Ah, so I can make a nice little breakfast nook. Get some light up in here." Monkey King replied with a lazy smirk.

That little- I sighed and shook my head, placing my notepad back in my bag as I watched the two. "But I'm meant to be Monkie Kid! Not Construction Boy!" MK protested his mentor's words. "How am I supposed to do the hero stuff if I don't know the fighting stuff?!" He crossed his arms over his chest, watching as Monkey King spun the Golden Staff(Or Ruyi Jingu Bang, I guess) in his hand.

"Oh? So you want to know the "fighting stuff," huh? Like this?" Monkey King prompted with a smirk, his eyes turning a brillant golden hue as he tossed the staff towards the mural- MK yelping and ducking out of the way. I flinched back and covered my face with my arms to protect myself from the debris. "EY! SOME OF US ARE MORTAL HERE Y'KNOW?!" I yelped, staring at the giant hole in the stone wall left by the staff.

Monkey King shot me an apologetic glance, a nervous laugh escaping his lips. "Huh?! Woah! Yes, exactly like that! I am ready for some awesome!" MK beamed, his hands clasped together excitedly. Monkey King laughed rather loudly, clearing his throat when MK turned to stare at him. "Look, bud. You can't rush this stuff. You'll get there. You just need practice." He spun the staff once, turning around. "But this isn't practice." MK protested.

"I'm never going to teach you something you don't need to know, okay?" Monkey King said with a groan of annoyance. MK huffed, clearly disappointed. "Okay. Now, this priceless, ancient mural isn't going to destroy itself. So remember: Step into the strike." Monkey King added. "You're the only ancient thing here." I retorted under my breath, hearing MK's phone buzz shortly after.

MK picked up the phone, Mei's voice ringing out from the other side. "MK, we really need your help!" I got up to see the fuss, peering over MK's shoulder-... only to see a giant smoke monster behind Mei... Oh no. OH NO. Shit, shit, shit- "A monster attacking the city? That's terrible. Dang. Guess I got to go do some boring hero stuff instead of this. Okay, bye!" MK grinned at his excuse, grabbing me by the arm and dragging me off before the Great Sage could protest. "ACK-" I yelped, mind rushing with panic over the 'monster'.

|An undisclosed amount of time later.|

MK ran over to Mei, me in tow. "What'd we miss?" He grinned, staring up at the beast. "MK, [Name], what took you so long?!" Mei yelped back in response, tone quiet yet rushed. "Sorry, sorry, Monkey King was making me do boring stuff." MK answered, pausing. "That the bad guy?" He looked up to the giant monster looming over head. It was black with a purple glow and undertone, ribbons(or possibly bandages) flowing like capes behind it. It was quite possibly taller than the buildings around, and had it's left(?) eye replaced by an X. An all too familiar beast, to me at least.

"Okay, be right back! Here comes-" MK charged forward with the staff. "No, wait!" Mei yelped in warning. "MK DON'T-" I hissed more urgently. "-Monkie Ki- AHHH-" MK got cut off by one of the ribbon-bandage things wrapping around his ankle and tossing him to the ground with little effort. "..Yowach..-" I murmured.
