Two weeks after I got home from the hospital I've been taking things easy. Very easy since I now have diabetes. I just can't let the boys know. Right now I was sitting next to the country club pool with my friend Sophie.

" so how has life been with you?" Sophie asked
" it's fine I guess other then this." I said pointing at the thing in my arm
" it really does suck, did you tell Brady yet?" She asked
" no I don't want him freaking out about it so I'm just keeping it on the down low." I said as i stood up to get into the pool.

Something about the hot sun and the feeling of cold water just washed my worries away.
" are you going to get in?" I asked
" girl if I got in my hair would never go back down." She laughed
I watched her walk to get a towel and saw a group of boys look at her. I'll admit she was very pretty with her dark skin and black curly hair.

" come on Palmer let's go back to my house for a little." She said handing me a towel
" alright." I said climbing out of the pool

When we got to her house that was not very far, we sat out in her screened in patio.
" so any cute guys you like?" She asked
" not this again." I laughed rolling my eyes
" come on girl there has to be someone, maybe that Brady boy?" She smirked

" ok fine, I'm kind of stuck." I said hitting my lip
" really! Who?"
" well you know walker scobell the kid in Percy Jackson?" I said
" yeah."
" well every since he got back we have gotten a lot closer and I mean a lot closer, but I still have feeling for Brady." I said
" girl you don't have to pick one right now just follow your heart." Sophie smiled

" aww thanks soph." I said giving her a hug
I looked at my phone noticing it was getting late.
" I should start getting home, I'm going to have to help my mom with dinner." I said as I left
As I was walking home I got a call from Walker.

" hello?" I said
" hey palm, I have not talked to you since you got home from the hospital and I'm really sorry I was just really busy with filming." He said
" oh don't even worry about it Walker I'm all good just a little fall was all." I said lying
" thank goodness, we should really hang out soon." He said
" yes your right, I'm really sorry but I'm about to be home so I'll call you later tonight ok?" I said
" alright bye." He said hanging up

When I opened the front door I saw my mom out on the deck.
" hey mom I'm home!" I shouted
She turned around as she got up smiling.
" hello honey." She said wrapping her arms around me

" did you already cook dinner it smells so good in here?" I asked
" yep and tonight I say we sit and eat out on the deck we can watch the sun set over the ocean." She said as I followed her outside

When I was younger we would always eat outside because I loved listening to the water.
" um so walker called me while I was walking home." I said
" oh he did that's very sweet." She said
" yeah he was asking how I was doing."
" did you tell him about the diabetes?" She asked
" well about that, I didn't really say anything about that." I said

" oh honey why not tell him I'm sure he will be very supportive." She said giving me a small smile
" that's the thing I don't want him to feel pity for me." I said
" I'm sure he would not feel pity for you, he's your friend and a friend should like you and take care of you for you not for what is wrong with you." Mom said
" I guess you're right."

" but if you don't feel like telling him yet that's up to you, and if you ever need help I'm here for you." She said as I took a bite of my food
" thanks mom."

And at that moment I knew what I had to do.
