Nanami finished off the paperwork in his office. He was getting off early today. Usually he'd have jujutsu shit to do, but today wasn't that day. He was also to talk about the little girl's custody.
To keep things short, Gojo informed Nanami that her parents were... They were pimps. Clearly they sold the girl to a pedophile. Thy were sick. No records of selling the baby were found though. When called to the police station, they claimed that the drunkard stole their child and they knew filing a report before 24 hours would be useless.
They were surprisingly calm for the parents of a stolen child. They only wanted money from her, Nanami knew. Nanami couldn't even spit at them, that's how pathetic they were. The girl hid behind him. He held her hand often to calm her down.
Nanami was determined. He wouldn't leave that place without the girl. They found out that that those sad excuses of parents didn't even name the girl. They'd just called her 'it' or 'the girl'. When asked to take her home, which frightened both Nanami and the girl. They said 'Sir, please, we can't raise her good enough. Were poor immigrants. Please, keep her so you can raise her better.' They're phenomenal actors. And so they decided to put her up for adoption right then and there. The brand new car that brought them to the station said otherwise about financial situations, but Nanami was satisfied, because that was probably the first thing they did right in their useless lives. Nanami had enough money and love to keep the girl warm all her life anyway.
Ofcourse, because of the power Gojo and Nanami held, they were given custody of the girl. Nanami signed the adoption papers with quite some excitement. This again amused Gojo, but he was happy that his pal had found a new purpose, and an innocent child had found a new dad.
As they were about to leave, the inspector called for Nanami.
"Sir, you have to name the girl. Because she doesn't already have one."
Nanami did not know about this, or else he would've thought of a pretty name. He wanted to think of a name, but the only name that came to his mind was 'Ukiyo' from a weird drama Satoru made him watch. When he told the name to the inspector who got busy with paperwork, Nanami glanced at Gojo only to see his face painted with a smirk.
"You really like cheesy dramas, don't you Kento?" Gojo couldn't let the opportunity pass.
"Screw yourself, Gojo." Nanami rolled his eyes.
As the three were about to leave, they were called yet again. "Mr. Nanami, the paperwork is yet to be finished. You will have to wait here."
Nanami glared. "I don't like to wait, officer. Send the papers over to my house. I need to take my daughter home. She's tired."
The inspector just nodded and bid them goodbye, he couldn't muster up the courage to tell these him no.

"Welcome home Ukiyo! That's your name, okay? You'll be staying here from now onwards."
Nanami spoke as gently as he could. Gojo was out getting stuff for Ukiyo. She had fallen asleep on the way here, but Gojo squealing from excitement woke her up.
She just smiled weakly. Her tiny walnut sized brain couldn't process what was happening. She didn't really know who this gentleman in blue shirt was. But she knew she was safe with him. She knew he was kind.
Nanami, on the other had never thought of having children, much less through adoption. If you told him a month ago that he would be a dad he would kindly tell you the way to the mental asylum. But now, the mere thought of this little girl being away from him made him panic. He couldn't bear the thought of letting her go back to those assho- those bad people. He needed to censor his thoughts. Ukiyo can't learn bad words. Not yet, atleast.
He led her to the couch. She sat down and looked around like a lost kitten. "Are you hungry? Officers told me you refused to eat this morning."
She shook her head. Nanami frowned but nodded. "I'll go get you some hot cocoa then. Okay? You like hot cocoa?" She looked at him confused."What's hot cocoa?"
Nanami stopped in his tracks like an idiot. Ukiyo doesn't know? Ofcourse she doesn't. She's had douchebags as parents all her little life.
"I'll make some for you. Try it." Nanami walked over to Ukiyo and knelt in front of her. He held her tiny face in his arms. "I will take care of you, and i will never let anyone hurt you. Ukiyo, I promise, I'll be the best appa in the whole world. I will always love you."
Nanami didn't know that he was already the best person Ukiyo had met. He was the kindest, he was the most caring, he was the gentlest. Noone had ever been so sweet towards her.
Nanami also didn't know Gojo was standing in the doorway dying from both, cuteness and laughter. He had no idea Nanami could be so soft. He knew Nanami was kind, but he had no idea he could be like 'this'. He took out his phone and snapped a bunch of photos to annoy his friend later, and to tease him.
"What's your favourite food?" Gojo asked Ukiyo, trying to make conversation as Nanami brought out drinks for all three. She thought hard, trying to remember what food meant. She lit up, Gojo and Nanami expected an answer eagerly. "One that's not burnt! I really like it when Sir and Madam gave food that was warm but not burned."
They abused her to an extent where she was void of proper food. Nanami was angry but swore to fix this. He gave Gojo a look of concern.
Ukiyo happily took the tiny mug from Nanami. It was decorated with whipped cream which somehow looked like a bunny. "You like it?" Nanami asked Ukiyo. She excitedly nodded. She had no idea hot cocoa would be so good. "Thank you sir. It is so good!" She was sitting on the couch with her legs crisscrossed. Nanami chuckled and wiped off the moustache that had formed over her mouth.
"I'll make this for you everyday if you want me to. Because your appa loves you, okay?"
