Junior didn't say a word. He stared straight ahead and drove to the Airbnb. Ginger sat quietly the whole ride; sick halfway, then fallen to sleep the other.

She woke up to the familiar sound of crunching rocks, just as Junior had pulled into the parking lot.

"Here." Junior said. He parked the car and kept a hand on the steering wheel processing the situation.

Ginger sat up straighter, sneaking a glance at him. why am I still here? I was hoping that nap would've knocked me into a long lasting coma.

She didn't say anything, studying his demeanor for a few seconds before finally breaking the silence.

"Are you mad?"

Junior looked at her with an unreadable expression. She moved her gaze to the floor not knowing what to expect.

"No, but I am disappointed. You know better than to take advantage of my absence for something as foolish as that."

"I.." instead of speaking she simply nodded,  waiting for him to speak again. He seemed so upset, it was obvious and made her feel stupid. They sat in silence for almost a minute.

"Alright then," He unbuckled his seat belt. "I'm sure you aren't feeling your best so I'll give you time to reflect. Get rest and we'll talk later."

Her face scrunched when she realized he wouldn't wait til they were done traveling for the week.

"Can we just have this conversation at home?"

It was stupid enough for her to ask so sincerely, considering that going home was a couple days away, plus a plan ride.

The thought of being punished or getting lectured was way out of her league, especially in the middle of their time here. She didn't want to add it on their to-do list but she honestly can't decide that knowing how far she went.

"Junior." She pleaded finding his silence unbearable.

He reached to tug the car keys away. "You aren't getting any type of Leeway out of this. Even though we're on vacation doesn't mean you get to  act out without consequence."

His tone being so blatant contributed to the anger already boiling in her system.

"Are you kidding? No, you can't do that!" She demanded.

He fixed his gaze on her and she clasped a hand over her mouth regretting how she talked to him. By the look on his face she could tell this wasn't something to argue over.

"You know I'm not happy with you, right?"

He continued to look at her and she nodded her head.

Junior inhaled grabbing his things. "Then don't make things worse. Let's go."

He left the car with Ginger following at a distance. When inside the Airbnb he instructed her to take a shower, then nap.

In a couple of hours Ginger woke up feeling much better than she originally did. She rubbed her eyes and quickly started remembering the events of this afternoon.

Junior wasn't next to her but she could see him moving around and making noises in the small kitchen. He noticed her shifting around in the bed immediately.

Next thing she saw after staring off was him unzipping a luggage and bringing out a strap from the smallest compartment of the luggage.

Her face went blank.
