I sigh as I look out my office window

I sigh as I look out my office window. The city lights shine brightly tonight as a few grey clouds cover the darkly lit sky. I look up at the tangled stars trying to find the Little Dipper.

"Ma'am, your ride is waiting for you outside," my assistant walks in with her tablet glued to her arm.

"Tell Mark to go on ahead. I think I'll take a walk tonight," I look over at her before turning my gaze back to the city life that stands below me.

"Miss Spades, it is pretty late. Why don't you head h-"

"I'm fine," I interject, becoming irritable from her disobedience.

When Faye walks out my office I collect my items and leave as well. I make my way through the dim cubicles, seeing nobody here but the janitor. I take the elevator down from the tenth floor of my building and walk into the cool spring night. I walk along the decently crowded strip and take in all the many people that surround me.

I watch couples hold hands, friend groups laugh together, and even see families smiling joyfully at one another. They all seem happy and even if it's just for a moment I'd like to feel the same way. I walk past a few restaurants, hair salons, boutiques, more tall buildings, and a club on the semi crowded street.

My trench coat makes a swoosh sound as I turn around and look over the black building. A crowd stands before me in a perfect line. I see people laugh and plenty of eager faces. Girls in the shortest of dresses shiver from the night wind, and their partners give them their jackets or ignore their presence. How cruel. The security reads names off of a list while another person takes money.

I fully turn around and strut my way to the entrance. My heels click against the sidewalk satisfyingly and I ignore the stares and glares I receive but don't miss.

I mean, I could always use a drink. A girl just wants to have fun. I haven't been clubbing in a while, especially with friends of my own, so it does not take me by surprise when a security guard looks me up and down with a slight mug on his face.

I pull out my I.D. from my wallet, pushing it close to him. His eyes widen and the person counting the money moves out the way with an appalled expression.

"Be careful in there ma'am," one of them warns. I nod my head, completely ignoring him. I need some spice in my life.

I walk through a long dark and narrow hallway. I can hear a shallow beat once I come up to a metal door. Opening the silver entrance a gust of cool air hits me and the sight before me amazes me. A stairway of round tables decorate the right side of the club. A bar is on the opposite side and a DJ hovers over a crowd of bodies in the middle area.

"This way miss," a suited woman guides me to an open table.

I smile over at her before sitting down in the booth when we make it. I look around the area again as the woman leaves and hazel eyes meet my dark brown ones. A dark-skin woman with black locs cut into a mullet sits at a table in front of me. A neck tattoo adorns the left side of her body and she has a silver lip piercing on her bottom plump lip. I stare over at her in awe by her beauty.

A soft buzz tickles my leg and I look down and notice my phone coming alive from a call. I reach into my pocket and look down at the caller I.D. I ignore it by hitting the side button and look up, only to find the dark beauty gone.

I scoot my way out of the booth trying to search for the women in the crowded space. After a while of nothing I make my way to the bar. I call on the bartender for some whisky and sigh as I listen to the loud tunes. As I look up, I notice a familiar tattooed neck next to me.

"You!" I point. She turns around slightly before smirking.

"You know they say not to talk to strangers," she licks her upper lip and stares down at me. I feel heat rush to my cheeks.

"Come on," she gestures as she climbs onto the bar. I look up at her warily as anxiety pumps into my bloodstreams.

"I don't think we should do that," I reason. The mysterious woman bends down to my eye level. I notice her all black leather attire and black boots that fit her figure.

"I'm Eden King and this is my club. We can do whatever we want. Now come up here with me," she explains and puts her hand out for me to take.

I put my hand in her calloused one as I make my way to the top. I kick over a few glasses on accident but no one seems to care. She pulls me in close and starts grinding gently on my body.

She moves in sync with the beats that can be heard throughout the room. I slightly move my body against hers and after some time I get into the groove. I dance with her and I start thinking if this is what true happiness feels like.
