"You ever feel like life is repetitive. Like you're on this spiral and you'll soon meet your end. It's like our life paths are already carved out. All we have to do is walk on any path and it'll take us exactly where we need to be," I slur."Ma'am? Ma'am! Your total is seven dollars and sixty-three cents. If you can't pay please move along. You're holding up the line," the cashier speaks.
I take out my black card and swipe it. When the cashier hands me my receipt and my wine I exit the store.

"You got entangled with an assassin? And not just any assassin but Eden fucking King?!" My best friend of four years questions me through the phone.
"I had fun for the first time in forever since people like to fling on me last minute," I frown at Sage. Eden must really be a big deal. Sage is a detective and once I told her about my interesting night it did not take her long to put the pieces together.
"I'm sorry but duty calls Kora," she sighs through the phone.
I bite my lip as I feel guilt arise in my chest. I really want to see her again. Being a CEO and entrepreneur is fun until it is not. I sell self care products that are so popular that they immediately left the shelves as soon as they got put up. I didn't want to give my products to a factory, so I bought my own building and hired many people to make sure my products have clean ingredients. Let's just say that I am rich and bored.
"Kora, promise me one thing," Sage interrupts my thoughts.
"If you so happen to bump into Eden, call me ASAP," she emphasizes. I promise her before wishing her a goodbye and ending the call. I look at my vanity mirror as I curl my flat ironed hair. I check the time again and walk to my long mirror in my room. I observe the tight, short, and strapless black dress I have on and walk to my kitchen to get my keys.
Leaving my high rise apartment, I lock the door as I head to my red Rolls Royce. I connect my phone to my Bluetooth, look up a song to play, and make my way to the club.

I found a parking spot a block away. Traffic was horrible downtown today so I decided to park further back.
I walk through the warm night air, anticipating seeing Eden. As I walk closer to the club I notice yellow tape covering the entrance and policeman surrounding the outside area. There's a crowd of people and I start to become unsettled.
Before I can walk up to a policeman and ask what is going on, a hand grabs me and pulls me into the darkness. I scream into another hand as the intruder shushes me.
"It's me," Eden whispers and uncovers my mouth. I breathe heavily into the alleyway. I can only see her silhouette but I know she's wearing a suit by her outline. I feel something wet drip onto my body and my heart picks up in pace as I smell a metallic smell.
"E-Eden, do you have blood on you?" I stutter. I rarely stutter.
Eden comes closer to me in the moonlight that shines a bit into the alleyway. I see her chest drenched in a dark red and blood splattered on her face. I feel a warm metal rub up and down the side of my thigh as I become more aware of the situation I'm in. I start to shake out of fear but I honestly feel more excited.
"The police will walk over here any second. We need to leave immediately, do you hear me?" She whispers seriously.
I quiver a little as I nod my head. Saint tucks the gun in her chest and buttons her suit up. She takes her sleeve and swipes at her face before fixing herself again. She takes my hands and holds them, they quiver even more at her touch.
I'm touching a murderer, I think.
"Breathe baby, breathe," Eden says. My heart flutters at the pet name even though we met twenty-four hours ago.
Eden holds my hand as she looks at the scene. The cops are still asking random people questions. We walk out the alleyway and I keep my head down as we walk past a few policeman and police cars. My heels click annoyingly loud on the pavement.
"Miss Hernandez! You finally came!" A policeman shouts causing the others to cheer. I lower my head as much as I can as goosebumps arise on my skin. My breath becomes shaky as we pass Sage.
The Afro-Latina has her hair out in a familiar curly Afro. I take a glimpse up and see her already staring over at us. I push my hair further into my face to cover me. As we pass her I make the mistake of making eye contact with her again, but luckily a policeman yells for her.
"Where did you park?" Eden asks, slightly limping through the parking lot.
"Over there," I point at my car. Me and Eden speedily walk over. She hops in and I pull off from the scene.
"You're hurt," I comment as I speed through the empty highway.
"You are rich," she says with a smirk. I ignore her as I quickly make it to my apartment. I walk past the desk and the person behind the counter is luckily asleep.
"Sit," I demand when we make it into my apartment bathroom.
"Where does it hurt?" I ask above her as she sits on my furry toilet seat cover.
"Nowhere," she smirks up at me with amusement. I take my black stiletto and dig it into her upper right thigh with my heel.
"SHIT!" She yells and I smile a little at my victory. I pull up her slacks as much as I can. I don't miss the way she licks her lips as she stares down at me, or mainly my cleavage.
I grab tweezers and my first aid kit. Having a mom that was a nurse definitely worked out in the end. Through trial and error, and a lot of unnecessary yelling, I manage to pull the bullet out of Eden and wrap her injured leg.
