I sit at my desk as I reminisce about last nights events. It felt so nice to be around Eden, even if she is a dangerous woman. When I woke up this morning sadly she was not by my side. But what was on my side was a tiny puddle of blood which I'm assuming was her bleeding wound that leaked. I fill out a few files and stack them neatly on my desk."Miss! You have a gift," my assistant burst in. I look up at her irritability but my face softens when I notice a bouquet of flowers in her hand. I take the heart shape sunflowers from her and spot a small champagne colored note. I pick it up and read it to myself.
Sorry about last night and the blood. I'll make it up to you. Allow me to take you on a proper date, it reads. I smile at the signature that writes EK elegantly.
"Ooh! Secret admirer?" Sage says while walking into my office. I put the note in my lap as I try to act causally.
"It's none of your business," I try to say playfully. Sage analyzes me but I stare over at her stoically.
"Where were you last night?" she asks while pulling out her notepad.
"Sage are you serious right now? I was at home on the phone with you," I look over at her in shock. Not shock from the question but the fact she's questioning me at work.
"I know I saw you last night Kora. You are my best friend; do not lie to me right now. We can do it this way or I have your house searched for evidence with a warrant," she looks over at me sternly while pulling out her warrant. I feel anger rise in the pit of my stomach but take a deep breath so I don't lash out.
"I wasn't out last night from the hours of ten to twelve," I confess.
"How did you know the times?" She looks over at me confusingly. I cuss out myself in my head.
"We were on the phone by ten and I watched the news yesterday which aired that tragic story at twelve," I gulp, trying my best to lie. Sage clicks her pen and it's obvious she's annoyed.
"Kora please make this easier on me. You are one, no, thee only person that I know that has a custom pair of red bottoms with a gold signature on the inner right corner of your shoe. We are trying to catch an assassin here," Sage describes. My mouth becomes dry at the description and I chew on my tongue a bit.
"I was at home Sage. This conversation needs to end now. I have paperwork to do," I boldly admit.
"If you aren't going to tell me one thing then tell me this," she leans in closer to me.
"Who are the flowers from?" She points at the bouquet with her silver pen. I try to think fast and I feel embarrassment rise at my excuse.
"Alfred! They are from Alfred," I grit out. Sage looks over at me amusingly.
"You mean the bellboy that works at the reception desk at your apartment. You guys are still messing around?" she laughs. I feel cringe arise as I remember my old memories. I was horny and lonely, do not judge me.
"He's a security guard and those were rough ages for me. We are better now," I look over at her seriously. I hate talking about that period in my life.
"Well, if your assassin friend ever decides to come back then call me. You know I'll be waiting," she laughs before getting up to leave. I hold in my anger and once my door is fully shut I let out a deep breath.

"Who's Alfred?" Eden questions while looking at my baby pictures. I sit on my couch with a glass of wine in my hand.
"Is your leg okay?" I point out at her upper thigh as I take a sip of my red wine. Eden hurriedly makes her way to me and pulls out a switch blade. She brings the switch blade to my chin and used it to tilt my head up.
"He's a security guard that works downstairs. I'm surprised you don't know everybody that lives in this building," I tease while looking up at her with no emotion.
"Good," she pecks my lips. I feel heat grow onto my cheeks. That was our first kiss.
"And I already memorized them yesterday. All you need is a map and a brain," she taps her head. I giggle a little from her comment. A knock interrupts our moment and I watch as Eden glares at the door.
"Looks like your friend is here," she says as she makes her way to the back of my apartment. I take my wine glass to the door with me as I open it and see Sage standing on the other side. I want to roll my eyes but I keep my composure.
"Where is she?" She asks while bumping her way through my door. I rub at my shoulder a bit before following her to my living room. I walk into my pit and sit on the couch as I watch the older girl look around.
"You know I have a guest coming over in a few," I interrupt. Sage looks over at me before crossing her arms.
"Alfred doesn't even work today," Sage stands in front of me.
"That doesn't mean he's not coming over," I sip my wine, and due to perfect timing we hear a knock on my door.
Sage hurriedly goes to open it and I follow behind her. She flings the door open and a brown skin male with curls dropping past his shoulders stands before me.
"Hey miss," he says awkwardly, shifting his weight between his left and right foot while looking down. Still shy and submissive.
"Now if you'll excuse us, I have a date to get to," I look over at Sage before nudging her out my door. I pull Alfred in before slamming the door in her face.
