Sarah Black was always a shadow behind her mothers name. Even before her death, everyone who looked at little Sarah Black let out the phrase: "You look just like your mother." At first she loved it, but after her mother death, it only angered her. She didn't want to look like her dead mother, she wanted to look like her alive father.

She was nine when her mother died in a car crash. Her sisters took it more harder than the two youngest. Jacob and Sarah had always been protected of the outside world by their mother, so, at nine years old, they were indifferent at her death. Well, not indifferent but they had been told stories of the tribe about what happens to someone once that died. Sarah thought dying was more peaceful than staying alive.

As soon as they could, Rebecca and Rachel left the town, not being able to live in the same place than their mother.

Sarah asked her father a thousand times why her sisters were away. Billy only smiled, ruffled her hair and told her that her sisters needed time away from this mess. Sarah didn't quite know what was the 'mess' but she didn't care.

Sarah always felt something was different with her. She didn't know what, but she felt it.

When she and her brother started school in la push reservation, Jacob already had friends. They were sort of Sarah's friends also, but she didn't want to be pathetic and have the same friends as her brother, so she distanced away from them.

Sarah didn't mind being alone, she liked it. Even being as young as she was, the girls understood not everyone needed to be her friend. Sarah found comfort in herself. She knew herself better than anyone else would ever.

She spent the weekends on the living room clinch watching whatever her father was watching ( usually sports). On special occasions the Black's moved from the couch to the one on the Swan household. Jacob would jump with excitement to see Bella, Sarah never left her fathers side, sitting quietly on the couch. Then, Isabella's mother decided that the older girl didn't need to visit on summers. So Jacob decided he didn't like sports nights on the Sean's anymore. Sarah stayed going with her father.
