Caroline couldn't believe how much has changed. Almost a year ago she had given up on love and now she had met Jacob, and couldn't have been happier. She used to think that love never worked out, that all it did was break and burn and end.
But yesterday proved her wrong. It showed her that she didn't have to give up because of those horrible relationships she'd had in the past.
Caroline didn't want to be too optimistic because she didn't want to jinx anything, but this was different, she had never felt this way about anyone else. It was as if she was watching it begin again.
She remembered every little thing about Jacob that made her fall for him even more. How he laughed at her jokes, even though they weren't that funny, how he opened the door for her, without even thinking twice about it.
When she got up the next morning, she made her way towards her music room, which was a room in her house she dedicated to her songwriting. When everything seemed hectic in her life, she found peace I'm writing music. Her music room was exactly the way she wanted as she didn't let anyone else go inside it. It felt personal to her like letting someone inside would be like letting someone read your diary.
She sat on the floor with a pen and her notebook filled with unfinished songs and began to write.
She spent ages working on the lyrics, finding the wrote chords, crossing out lines and rewriting them, until she thought it was perfect. She picked up her guitar and began to play a song she had titled 'begin again'.
"Took a deep breath in the mirror
He didn't like it when I wore high heels
But I doTurned the lock and put my headphones on
He always said he doesn't get this song
But I do, I doI'd walked in expecting you'd be late
But you got here early and you stand and wave
I walk to youYou pull my chair out and help me in
And you don't know how nice that is
But I doAnd you throw you're head back laughing like a little kid
I think it's strange that you think I'm funny
Cause he never did
I've been spending the last eight months
Thinking all love ever does is break and burn and end
But on a Wednesday
In a cafe
I watched it begin againYou said you never met one girl who
Had as many James Taylor records as you
But I doWe tell stories and you don't know why
I'm coming off a little shy
But I doAnd you throw you're head back laughing like a little kid
I think it's strange that you think I'm funny
Cause he never did
I've been spending the last eight months
Thinking all love ever does is break and burn and end
But on a Wednesday
In a cafe
I watched it begin againAnd we walked down the block to my car
And I almost brought him up
But you start to talk about the movies
That your family watches every single Christmas
And I wanna talk about that
And for the first time, what's past is pastAnd you throw you're head back laughing like a little kid
I think it's strange that you think I'm funny
Cause he never did
I've been spending the last eight months
Thinking all love ever does is break and burn and end
But on a Wednesday
In a cafe
I watched it begin again"˚。⋆୨♡୧⋆ ˚。⋆
Caroline always had trouble talking about her feeling and trying to express them, but she found that she could always write them out in a song. So that's what she did.
She wrote 'begin again' to show Jacob how much she really appreciated him and to tell herself that it could all work out in the end.
And who knows, maybe she'd end up writing more songs about him.
