Chapter 13: Kurt

I have really learned a few things these past few days.

1. People are freaking awful.

2. There is no place like home.

3. Hospital gowns definitely don't compliment my skin tone. Seriously. I looked like the Great Depression hand selected my wardrobe.

All these things flowed through my mind as I was finally able to sprawl out in my bed with the love of my life. I was in my own home, my own bed, my own clothes. I had just been released from the hospital earlier that day and there was no way Blaine was gonna let me miss out on some make-up cuddles.

We just got comfortable in each other's arms when the stupid doorbell rang. Due to the current circumstances, I felt the need to check it. It could be about Riley.

"Noooooooo." Blaine protested as I pushed myself up, gasping at the slight pain still present.

"Stay here, I'll get it." He said. He had been babying me. I was already up, I could have gotten it! Jerk. Though it was so nice to see how much he cares.  I sat down on the couch and soon after he brought a young man and the Detective I knew to be Ackles into the room.

"Kurt?" He asked as Blaine sat beside me. He was tall! He might have been able to challenge Finn's height. His hair was long for a male, too.

"Yes, Sir, that would be me. You can have a seat if you'd like. " I said, trying to push my resentment to the back of my mind.

"Thanks. Alright. My name is Detective Padalecki. I believe you've met my partner, Detective Ackles. "

What the heck is a Pada-... Padawhatever. That name is so weird, I wonder where it's from.

"Yes, I have.  All of you have been a lot of help in finding Blaine. But we know who did it. So, and I don't mean this to be rude, why exactly are you here? Has something else happened?" This time, a small hint of panic was clear in my voice. Blaine sat silent, but squeezed my hand.

"No, everything has been cleared up. This is merely a routine check up, I'm just making sure you guys are okay." Ackles stated, smiling at us.

"Yeah, we're good." Blaine said, tossing a smile my way and lacing our fingers together.

"I'm very glad to hear that. Please make sure to call if anything comes up. Thanks so much for your time." Pada-something said, shaking our hands. He left the room as Detective Ackles followed suit. As soon as they were gone, I looked to  my husband.

"Do you smell that?" I asked. Our home had obtained an odd smell when the detectives entered.

"Yeah, what is that?" he wrinkled his cute little nose.

"It's weird. I recognize it. It smells like sulfur." I, too, scrunched my nose. The smell was starting to fade a little, probably thanks to the A/C.

"Now that you mention it, yeah, it kind of does. That's just creepy." He hugged me from behind, "Cuddles?"

"Cuddles."

We raced back to the room.
