12 - BOND WITH BLOOD

The full moon was dancing in the night sky. The witches gathered in a perfect circle around us, and the master led their spell. It was something I’ve never done before, probably because I haven’t. No time for jokes, sorry. The ritual began, and we had to drop our blood. We cut our hands, letting drops of the red liquid mix together. (Note: Do not do this at home, guys. Just if you have a witch by your side to guide you. And do the spell, of course.) The master stepped onto the platform we were standing on, and made a rune on our arms. That is the bond. The moment the spell was over, the blood from our hands dissolved into our skin, and we were facing each other.

Julie spoke something to me after the ritual, but I couldn’t hear. I was scared, and I wanted to know what was happening. Julie looked at me worriedly. She asked me something I couldn’t hear. But then, I started hearing voices. Souls. They were talking to me.
“Close your eyes, daughter of Ash. Sleep and dream.”
I tried. I couldn’t close them. I panicked, and Julie started screaming for help. I know that was what she was doing. She caught me before my body crashed on the platform. It was just the two of us. No one came. She started crying heavily and I felt weak. Weaker than before. The souls whispered again.
“Behold, daughter of Samantha. The power will help you win this war. But you have to go a much longer way. You will face the responsibilities that come along with your great power. We wish you the best!”
And they shut. With that, my head is filled with a thousand whispers I couldn’t understand. They were talking, so many of them. I started screaming, and Julie’s eyes were filled with even more tears. She cried for help again, but nothing. No one came. I thought of Theo. I wanted to see him once again, to tell him how much I loved him. To tell him that I won’t ever leave him again. To look him in the eyes and kiss his sweet lips. Those thoughts almost calmed the angry souls that were whispering in my head. I had one last hope that everything would stop at some point, and I could tell Julie how much she means to me. I wanted to hug her boyfriend Jack, and tell him I care about him and that I’m happy he found Julie. I wanted to tell Lauren that she is so good at taking care of all of us. I wanted to tell James that he is really good at what he is doing. Oh, how many thoughts ran through my head at that moment.

I have no idea how long we stayed like that. But after numerous tries of sleeping, I have finally made it. I finally managed to close my eyes. For a while, I only saw black, then I woke up. I was back in the land of dreaming.  I didn’t recognize the room I was sleeping in. It was a big room, with gray and white walls, decorated with posters. I was laying in a big, master bed. On the bedside table, a small clock was standing, with some books. It was lunch time. I was scared to go outside to check the house or wherever I was. I had a hard time deciding what to do.

I opened the door and stepped outside  the room. The hallway was pretty, with a lot of paintings. I spotted the stairs that led downstairs. I decide to go down, and see what I can find. I am truly quiet when I do some. Almost down, trying not to make a sound, a voice speaks.
“I can hear you, Angel.” He says. My face lifts up. I smile brightly, and hurry up to where the voice came from. I enter the kitchen, finally able to smell his strawberry scent. It’s him. Our eyes met, as he turned around to see me. “It took you a while to wake up, love. Were you ignoring me?” I avoid his question, and run in his arms. He cupped my face and kissed me sweetly.
