It's been about a week now since you've met those people in the group chat. You've learned that you guys all live in Tokyo, and are around the same age as most of them.

Oh, and you've also met your number neighbour, Yuta Okkotsu.

The group has treated you fairly well, considering they've never heard your voice or seen how you look like. You talk to them pretty much everyday, since they all know each other in person they text pretty frequently.

Currently, you were at school. Sitting in the cafeteria with your friend group.

"Are you talking to someone, Y/n? You keep looking at your phone~" Miwa observed the girl's expression, wiggling her own eyebrows as she looked down at her friend's phone and then back up at her.

"Oh, no it's nothing haha.." you shut your phone off and put it down on the table, now focusing your attention back to Miwa.

"How's the situationship with that guy you're talking to, hmmm?" You decide to poke fun at the friend in front of you. "Kokichi was it?"

Miwa only sighed and let her head drop to the table.
"Men are too complicated."

You only chuckled at her behaviour. You yourself have never been in a relationship, or even a talking stage so you never really knew how that felt. But from what Miwa told you, it sucks being in a situationship.

Miwa picks her head back up when she hears the sound of the rest of the group joining you two at the lunch table.

"Hey you guys! Where's Todo?" Miwa waved at the two girls as they sat down, noticing one of her friends missing.

"Todo broke some gym equipment and is currently at the principals office." Mai rolled her eyes while recalling the incident, earning a giggle from Nishimiya.

"Pffft, what an idiot" You shook your head, cracking a smile as Miwa hummed in reply to agree.

"Do you guys want to go out after school? I found this store with really cute clothes—" Nishimiya blurted out, clearly excited to go.

"Aw I wish I could. I promised my brother I would be home early to help him study for a test.." You sighed. Disappointed about missing out on the fun hangout, but a promise is a promise.

"As per usual... I mean you're basically like his mom now." Mai joked, poking you in your side like she usually does. Which only lead to you rolling your eyes.

"Hey, Mai!! That's not funny." Miwa quickly interjected, crossing her arms over her chest and frowning at the girl who sat next to you. You looked over at Miwa to mutter a small 'it's okay'. She looked back at you with a saddened frown.

Your mom had gone missing over 2 years ago, leaving you and your little brother all alone since your dad had died when you were 5. It was hard on you but since your mom had left, you've prioritized taking care of your brother.

A 16 year old girl taking care of an 11 year old is probably not legal, but you haven't been caught yet and that's all that matters.

When you invited your friends to your house for the first time, they asked about your parents. Which ended up in you giving them a brief answer, like 'oh she's out'. However only Miwa knows what really happened since you're closest with her.

You didn't even notice how long you spaced out for until you felt someone patting your head. Looking up you see Miwa.

"Lunch is over, you coming?" She asked. You look ahead to see that Mai and Nishimiya had already started walking out of the cafeteria.

"Yeah, let's go." You get up and walk side by side with Miwa to your lockers.

"Shoya I'm home!" You locked the door behind you, immediately putting your bag down on the couch. You pause for a second to maybe hear a reply, but as usual you are ignored.

You go upstairs to your room to change into some more comfortable clothes and then head to your kitchen to grab a snack.

"Shoya get your ass down here!!" You yelled to your brother upstairs. You know he heard you when you hear someone stomping down the stairs.

"What do you wanttt." He walked towards the kitchen where you were, sitting on the table. He had brought his work as well and set it on the table.

"To help you study. We can't have you failing again, you know I can't afford summer classes...or a tutor.." your voice gradually got quieter as you spoke, knowing it isn't something you like to bring up.

"Tsk, it's not like you help me much anyway." You heard your brother mutter under his breath. Before you can answer back he quickly asks another question. "What's for dinner? I'm hungry."

"Whatever you want. You'll be making it yourself tonight." You commented back sharply, grabbing your phone off the counter and heading up to your room.

A/N:

Hellooo! I hope you guys are enjoying so far. For this chapter I really just wanted to give at least a little bit of background for y/n and her life. We will obviously see more of these characters and how they are as we progress in the story :)

Also for mechamaru I wasn't sure if I should've used Kokichi or Muta to refer to him so I just went with Kokichi
