"By the way, is the bite still poisonous?" Nyx asked as she went over the sheet of paper again while Nora was pacing back and forth.
The Alpha's sister abruptly stopped and looked up. "No, not anymore. The legend doesn't mention it, but we think over time or by the powers of the two gods it changed." Once given the answer she paced back and forth again, deep in thought.
"But doesn't this mean your gods exist. I mean this mark on my neck alone is proof of that right?"
Nora sat down again. "It's a huge probability, but it doesn't have to be true." Nyx tilted her head in confusion. "The legend has been told numerous times and the first written documentation is years after it supposedly happened. We don't know for sure if the legend is right. For all we know, we werewolves are just another species who came to the existence by evolution."
"But you believe in your moon goddess right?"
"That I do, I feel a strong connection with her, but that doesn't mean she is real in the sense how we are real," Nora said softly.
The human girl shook her head. "This is all confusing to me." Her time at HPS made the werewolves seem as mindless monsters. A people with only few motives and goals, but this makes everything so more complicated and layered.
Nora laughed. "I can only imagine how much this is to take in for you... But I am curious though, how does the bond feel for you? Can you describe it?"
Nyx stood up from the couch. "I-I don't want to talk about it, you already know I can feel it, isn't that enough?"
"Just an example when you could feel it, please Nyx. To give you a reference so far in this region – and by that I mean quite a big region with several packs in it – there are only three mated couples where one of them is human, you included. And from what I know from the other two, they can't feel anything. Please," Nora had big eyes filled with want, like a puppy begging for a treat.
She turned her back to Nora and closed her eyes, finding it easier to talk when there was some sort of barrier between them. "When I had my first nightmare here... I felt so scared. I think I keep dreaming about the night my parents died and every time I wake up I feel their passing over and over again, but at the same time I don't know for sure and it leaves a horrible feeling. But when Silas came in and stood next to me, I felt it all disappear."
Nora gasped and whispered, "Incredible."

It was another beautiful summer morning when Nyx had brought her breakfast with her outside where she sat under a tree eating her yogurt and fruit. She started to enjoy her freedoms more and more with each passing day. The more she realized her day wasn't full with expectations and her schedule wasn't filled to the brim, the more she explored what she could with her time.
Nyx had already written down everything she learned from Nora, so she couldn't continue with her mission, yet. Her body felt quite normal again after a full week of rest which was great. And now she was ready to pick up her exercising again. She missed it.
Preferably she would go on a run outside, but that meant she needed to take someone with her. Difficult. Difficult.
Then she heard some rustling and saw Silas appear. Nyx had to supress a smile, she didn't know why, but that calming aura was always so welcoming. It made her forget who she was. Leaving her alone in a bubble where only Silas could enter without bursting it.
"Hey there, enjoying the sun?"
Nyx nodded her head as she shoved another big mouth full of yogurt and fruit. He sat down next to her on the grass. "You know, we have other food in the house. I feel like this is the only thing you are eating."
"That is because it's good."
Silas chuckled. It was endearing to see his mate so enthusiastic about something as simple as fruit and yogurt. He noticed Nyx's hair grew longer, from the pixie cut it was now almost a very short bob. It gave her softer features or maybe that was the result of the absence of hatred in her eyes.
"Don't you have work?" Nyx asked curiously when she was done eating.
The Alpha shook his head. "No, I took the morning off."
"Must be nice to be your own boss."
"Sometimes," Silas winked. "What are your plans for today?"
The human girl hesitated to confess what was on her mind, but went for it anyway. "I was planning on a run outside, but I will need some company..."
"I am happy to go with you."
Nyx eyed Silas up and down and finally agreed. Ten minutes later they were running side by side. The Alpha was impressed by her pace and tempo. He didn't expect her to be this fast, especially after what happened last week. But one look at her body and it wasn't as surprising.
Nyx had chosen for shorts and a short sleeved shirt, therefore showing a lot of skin, but mostly her muscles. With every movement you could see them working.
It was then he noticed the tattoo. Silas heard already from Nora, but seeing it was worse. He couldn't entirely blame Nyx.
A small part of him still did though.
Silas noticed after thirty minutes that his mate was slowing down and opted to take a break and sit down on a rock to cool down. Nyx gladly accepted that offer.
"Oh I have something fun to announce to you," Silas began when she had finally caught her breath.
"What is it?" She asked, still somewhat out of breath.
"Tomorrow we are hosting a small festival up in the city in honor of the Goddess of harvest and nature, Iris. To thank her for the good harvest and keep blessing us with good harvests in the future. There will be plenty of festivities to join and I thought you might want to join me, Nora and Andrew."
Nyx gave him a side eye. "Be frank here, if I say no Nora will wear me down, right?"
Silas laughed. "Yes, definitely."
"Then I have not much of choice, do I?"
The Alpha laughed again. "No you don't."
Then when a silence enveloped them, Silas noticed how close he was standing in front of Nyx. He couldn't ignore the pull of the bond and so he wasn't able to stop the words that were flowing from his mouth before he could even think of the consequences. "This time I will wait for your answer, but please, may I kiss you?"
The human girl was surprised but she as well couldn't ignore the pull and with ratio going out of the window together with everything she was drilled to do and not do as a HPS soldier she excepted those warm, kind, gentle lips.
She could feel his hands on her hips and he could feel her hands on his chest. Their lips moved slowly, passionately. The kiss deepened and Silas moved one of his hands in her neck, Nyx coping him, pulling themselves closer, to merge into one.
The pleasure was exploding within Nyx and this time it wasn't overwhelming, it was exciting. This foreign feeling was something to be explored, to be embraced.
The tingles spreading over her body, the warmth in her chest it felt amazing.
