The first two weeks were fine for Nyx, working at the Lunar Academy. She had indeed not many interactions with the students as most went home within her first two hours of her shift.
Nyx got into a routine where she would get up early after a horrible night of sleep. Where she was followed by memories she didn't understand. Then she would set a cup of tea and eat one sandwich of peanut butter. Then she would go for a quick run, afraid she would get caught, not knowing if 'going for a run' was allowed. A quick shower followed, by sitting around the house.
She would try and watch some television, but it seemed that she got quickly overwhelmed by the programs, series, and movies. Therefore, she watched only half an hour and would be done with it. Lunch time came around by then and she would another peanut butter sandwich and if she was feeling up to it, Nyx would eat two.
Finally when the clock struck 13.30 pm she would go on her way to the school. During her job Helen would visit her often complaining that the hallways and cafeteria weren't clean enough, but apparently it was clean enough not to fire Nyx, yet.
When she was done, Nyx would put her cleaning supplies away in Peter's office and head home where her evening would consist of her simple dinner – two peanut butter sandwiched again - and watching out of the window until she was tired.
The first two weeks this was enough for Nyx after everything that happened, but when the third week came around the loneliness worsened and brought a friend called depression. She realized she was never truly alone in all her life until then. Even back at the headquarters she would sometimes find herself in the office of the Major, or she would train with a couple of her teammates in the evenings.
Nyx missed Andrew, Nora, and Silas. She missed the noises they made in the house as she was alone in her room, the shared meals they had, and the small moments with Silas alone.
She didn't know for how long she could live this life. With each passing day the hope that Silas would take her back grew smaller and smaller. He said he needed space, but Nyx interpreted it as breaking up whatever they had. Silas would otherwise for sure let her back already, right? It had been over a month since there fight.
After a long and tiring day of scrubbing the tables in the cafeteria – some teenage boys thought it was funny to have a food fight – she pushed the door of Peter's office open with a loud bang. Immediately after she apologized, but she was stopped in her track as she saw a young woman standing next to Peter.
"Hey," Nyx greeted her and proceeded putting away her cleaning supplies.
"Nyx, I want you to meet my niece, Emily."
Emily was a beautiful woman with light brown hair, a tanned skin, and glorious golden eyes. "Oh my, are you the Nyx? The Black Veil? Girl, you are looking way better than the stories describe you." She held out her hand for her to shake.
Nyx accepted it and let a small smile settle on her lips. "Nice to meet you," She said shortly.
"Likewise! My friends would love to meet you too. We are huge fans."
"Emily! You can't talk like that over here," Peter scolded.
"Oh come one, uncle. I don't mean we are fan of her work during her time at HPS. We are fan of how she handled those mutts who kidnapped her. It's a shame two of them got away with it," She turned back at Nyx, "What are you doing this evening?"
"Oh, uh, nothing special."
"It's settled then, you will be going out with my friends tonight."
Nyx eyes widened. "Oh, I don't think that's a good idea. I can't just go out of the house. I have a tracker, you see-"
