[Alva's Perspective]

"Alva! Wait!"

I ignored him but he grabbed one of my wrists before it went through the portal. My momentum should have pulled him in after me, however it seemed he could not physically enter it, and we instead ended up on a pile on his living room floor.

"Alva," he said again, "please just hear me out."

"I tried!" I said. "You would not talk to me."

I stood up and brushed myself off. Declan stayed on the ground, sitting with his hands covering his face.

"I..." Declan stammered through his hands. "I just don't know what to say."

"Alva," Champwan said spitefully, "you should just leave. You were going to before this fool stopped you."

"He is not a fool," I said. Declan looked up at me hopefully

"You don't even know what he did," Champwan said. "If you knew, you might think differently."

"It was your fault!" Declan shouted to him before covering his face again.

"You acted of your own free will," Champwan retorted. He took a step closer to me and when I turned to face him I saw an arrow aimed straight at my head. "And now I'm acting out of mine."

"Champwan," I said hoarsely. "What are you doing?"

"Doing what this fool should have done months ago."

"What?" Declan looked up at us and yelled before diving towards Champwan. "What the fuck do you think you're doing?!"

"Lord Mianite wants her dead and you're letting him kill you over her!" Champwan shouted as they rolled around on the floor.

"He might as well! I can't live without her!"

"You survived her being dead once, you'll survive it again!"

"Stop it!" I shouted at the top of my lunges. Declan obeyed immediately, but as soon as he stopped, Champwan hit him over the head with the bow before aiming at me again. The force knocked Declan over and sent him flying closer to me.

"You're weak, Declan," he said through clenched teeth as he let the arrow fly. Everything moved so quickly that I did not have any time to react.

"No!" Declan shouted and lunged for me. We fell into a heap and he screamed out in pain.

"Declan!"

"God damn it, Dec!" Champwan shouted as he stood up and walked over to us, nocking another arrow. This time there was enough of a delay in his actions that I could stand up and get closer before he did anything. I grabbed the bow and pointed it at the ceiling with one hand before punching Champwan square in the jaw with the other. The force sent him to his knees, at which point I grabbed the bow from him and threw it across the room.

He sat there, stunned, as he grabbed his jaw. I ran back towards Declan to see that the arrow had grazed a large section of his leg.

"Are you alright?" I asked him. He nodded through gritted teeth, visibly holding back tears. I picked him up, careful to avoid brushing against his injured leg and carried him down the hall to his bedroom.

"Hey!" Champwan yelled from the hallway as he came into the room. "I'm not done with you!"

"Could have fooled me," I said angrily as I whirled around and kicked him in the side. It knocked the air out of him and sent him flying against the wall.

"Get out." Declan said from where he sat on the bed. Champwan just looked at him, unable to speak. "I said, get out!"

Champwan looked like he was about to cry, but ran for the door. I was surprised and somewhat disappointed at Declan's anger as I pulled out a roll of gauze from my satchel and walked over to him.
