I knew he was leaving soon, but I already wanted his presence back. His house feels empty now. He paid everything off for my apartment because he wanted me to live with him, so I did move in, but now it is empty without him. So I decided to head to the Gambino house, so I can have some company.
I have been hanging out with Bailee, Valerie, and Cora most of the time to get my mind off of things and we have been having girls' time. Scarlette anxiety is through the roof, but keeps claiming she is all right. How can you be fine when all of your kids and nieces and nephews are out there fighting a war with someone killing and might get themselves hurt or worse, killed?
" I am going to head back home, so I can catch up on some designs," Valerie said as she headed toward the door and so did Bailee. " Going to head out also, I want to catch up on some sleep and the mess around the apartment," She said following her sister. Cora went to follow them out. I got up from my spot on the couch and went around the house, but for some reason, my head was telling me to walk outside.
Scarlette was sitting far out in the backyard alone. I walked outside and went to where she was sitting. Everyone needs company at some point in their life. " Hi," I said as I sat down on the swinging bench she was sitting on. " Wine?" She asked as she held a bottle of white wine up. " Why not?" I said and she poured me a glass and handed it to me. I took a sip of the white wine. " How is everything?" She asked looking out into the large backyard she owns. " For the past two days and no contact or anything. I think I am going to lose my mind," I said honestly.
" Same, sweetheart," She said. " It does feel empty inside, but this time it isn't my husband. It is my children that I care and love so much. I already lost one, no need for three more funerals or for my Taytum and Mauricio. They were born into this life, so I can't take that away from them and I was born into this life. It is a part of both sides of the family, but I made sure I mentally prepared myself for this when I was pregnant with Giovanni and Luciano. Anyways, how are you and my son?"
Scarlette always asks how Giovanni and I every chance she gets.
" We are fine, the night before he had to catch his flight he came by to see me before he left. Lately, he has been acting a little bit off, but I think it is because of this mission," I uttered. She placed her warm hand on my lap. " I hope you know that Giovanni really cares about you. He even talks about you to me or sometimes to Cora and Devina very rarely does he express how he feels about someone to any of us. All I can tell you is that when any of the Gambino men love, they love long and hard," She said.
Scarlette and I sat there until the sun went down. I hope one day this could be my future mother-in-law. " Come on let's head inside. I am pretty sure dinner is almost ready," Scarlette said and she grabbed the cups and the wine bottle. Once we got inside Cora looked at me. " You ditched me for my aunt?" She said sarcastically. " Don't be mad she likes me more," Scarlette said putting the glasses in the sink.
