"New York!" I proclaim to Liv as we step out of the TARDIS "wow.. I've always wanted to visit the Statue of Liberty" she says with a huge smile as we look up at it. "Ah but look over there, Empire State building is still being built.. So I wonder when we are" "November 1st 1930" "you're getting good at this" I respond as she holds up the newspaper "look at that, Hooverville mystery deepens.." "Shall we have a gander?" "Yeah go on then.."
We soon arrive at the titular Hooverville "look at it it's-" "history.." "This is because of the great depression yeah?" "Yep, wall street crash, so many people overnight lost their jobs their homes.. Everything they had" "that we did, but we keep marchin' on" a man says to us "oh hello, I'm the Doctor this is Liv" "a doctor huh? Well we got lawyers and stock-brokers, but you're the first doctor we've gotten here" "glad to fill that in, but the paper said something about a mystery here, might I inquire?" "Come with me.."
We sit by a fire inside a tent, quickly sitting down as he says "I ain't seen him but apparently a man comes, usually at night" "what sort of man?" "I don't know but they say he plays a flute, anyone unfortunate to still be awake and hear it have no choice but to follow him.." "Doctor this sounds like-" "the Pied Piper yeah" "but I'm not a fool Doctor, I know that's just a story.. You know what I think? People are leaving of their accord and make up this dumb story to make us scared" "maybe... But I've seen things Solomon, things you wouldn't believe and trust me- the Pied Piper might just be real.."
That night, me and Liv stay up to wait for him to arrive, we're sat by a fire as Liv asks "what do you think he's doing? If he is real" "no idea, but I'd love to find out.. You wearing your psychic blocker?" "Of course I am, are you?" I merely nod as we see him walk into the village, strangely wearing a suit. He quickly takes out his flute and begins to play it "ok, you remember the plan?" "Yep, pretend we're under his control and follow him" "bingo" we watch as people from all over the village gather around him and we smoothly follow suit, proceeding to follow him..
We walk for about a mile until we reach the empire state building and go inside of it, the elevator taking us down and down and down..
We're soon in some sort of lab, it's utterly out of place in this time period, far too sophisticated. "Doctor, now what?" "We find out what exactly is going on.." Our eyes widen in fear and surprise as one of them comes into view, a Dalek. "SUBJECTS WILL PROCEED INTO THE PROCESSING CHAMBER FOR FURTHER EXAMINATION" it commands, the rest of the people follow the Piper but me and Liv stand our ground "hello again.." "DOCTOR!"
