october 1984
Cassidy woke up with the October air flowing through her bedroom windows. A thick layer of orange leaves stretched across the entire length of the driveway, flying through the win.
The alarm clock began blaring the most obnoxious sound to wake up the occupant. Her silver ringed hand stretched out from underneath the warm heavy blankets, blindly searching for the off button on the clock. Her hand collided with the button, which then instantly silenced it's blaring noises.
Her bed sheets being completely off her body and crumbled up on the floor. Ghose bumps running up both her arms and legs. Wide blue eyes fluttering open, rays of sun hitting her face. Her hand quickly moving hovering over her eyes. Swinging her legs off the bed, rubbing her eyes with both hands. Her hands dropped down on the mattress pushing herself up.
"Fuck" She mumbled under hear breath automatically feeling the hungover from her 'arrival celebration' that steve through. A celebration that consisted of only Steve and Cassidy.
Cassidy propped her arms up on her dresser, doing her make up and grabbing the first items of clothing she found. Along with her faded red converse that appeared pink that where tossed around the room.
Her hair was a mess from the attempts of brushing it out. "Cassidy, look presentable you know they say first impressions are everything" Her mother, Caroline Connelly, said from behind the door "Half of the people know i exist, no first impressions needed"
Cassidy fixed her hair, before she quickly put on her necklace. Taking one last look at herself she grabbed her walkman throwing it in her bag then swinging it over her shoulder.
She walked down the upstairs hallway as Nova walked out her bedroom door "Come on Nova, lighten up. I know how you feel" Cassidy comforted wrapping an arm around the younger girl "How are we getting to school?" Nova asked her voice sounded unsure
"With Steve. He offered" Cassidy admitted walking down the stairs "Morning, grab some toast or something before leaving. I didn't have time to make anything" Their father greeted "Im fine, ill be fine with an empty stomach" Cassidy lied, she just didn't feel like eating.
Cassidy could see Nova looking out the window "Steve is here, and i think Nancy? is with him?" Nova didn't know the other girls name, Cassidy gripped her backpack tighter "Bye" Both girls told their parents
She quickly stormed out the front door as Novalie trailed behind. She reached for the handle of the back door, opening it and leaving her sister to close it.
The vehicle started moving instantly.
"Not even a friendly hello." Cassidy joked putting on the seatbelt "Hello Cassidy" Steve turned over flashing her smile before his eyes moved to the road "Can i use your walkman for right now?" Nova seemed shy asking, Cassidy reached into her backpack pulling it out and shoving it onto the younger girls head.
It seemed to calm Nova down "Nance can you help me with this?" Steve asked his girlfriend, pulling out a paper with messy handwriting "College essay?" Cassidy questioned "Yep, he has to turn it in tomorrow and it's not half way done"
"Im gonna stay in the car for a bit, you two can get out" Steve told them, Cassidy nudged Nova's shoulder as she opened the car door. "The middle school is over there okay? Look there's Mike, Nancy's sister. Maybe they can show you around"
"Okay." Nova mumbled handing Cassidy her walkman back "Same spot after school. Okay? Stay safe, love you" Cassidy watched as her sister walked away. Cassidy leaned on the car waiting for Steve, lighting a cigarette something she did when she was nervous
Everyones head turned. A car engine revving echoed the parking lot. A blue Camaro entered one of the parking spots in front of Cassidy. A young redhead getting out first before skateboarding away. A guy with a mullet got out, glancing around. Their eyes met, Cassidy knew who he was. Her breath hitched as his lips turned up for a split second
"Just got here and already checking someone out?" Steve asked, she hadn't even noticed he had gotten out the car "Shut up." She took a hit from the cigarette before letting it drop "Seems like you know him."
"I do. I saw him around california" Cassidy mentioned as they walked towards the school, Cassidy scoffed as she walked passed some girls who had been staring. Clearly it was unexpected for everyone to have two new kids, and both from California.
"Got your schedule?" Steve asked as Cassidy grabbed it from her backpack "You have first period with Nancy" Steve muttered "Atleast i know somebody" Cassidy muttered "Just follow her, ill wait for both of you after its over" Cassidy only nodded
Cassidy walked into the class shortly behind Nancy, sitting at an empty desk. She recognized people from middle school.
As if it weren't the early hours of the morning, the teacher introduced the class to Cassidy before going back to nonstop teaching. The whole hour of the class it felt like forever. As she took notes and zoned out multiple times.
She kept noticing people looking behind her. Despite herself, she was curious, so she turned around. Cassidy realized it was Billy, she had learned his name from the teachers introduction. He too was lazily slumped in his chair, taking notes slightly.
His forearm disappeared underneath the desk, pulling up his sleeves to free his hands. He pauses tapping his pencil against the desk and without warning met her eyes. Not wanting to give him satisfaction of getting a glare, Cassidy pursed her lips and looked away
The bell quickly rang and Cassidy grabbed her belongings shoving them into her backpack. Cassidy walked out the door. A orange paper got shoved into her chest reading ' Tina's halloween bash come and get sheet faced '
"Hey Cass, Be there. Could be an opportunity for people to know you more." Tina smiled, Tina was familiar with Cassidy "Right" She muttered walking out the hall
"Boo" Steve's lame attempt to scare her "Screw you" She wrapped her elbow around his head "Ok! Ow ow! Im sorry" He moved in her arm, Cassidy moved her arm away "Party invitation? Wow already fitting in" Steve took it out her hand
"We are definitely going" He nodded his head, placing his sunglasses on his head "Was planning on it" She squinted her eyes "Second period, see you later"
They day finished boring, atleast she had Nancy in half her classes. After school Cassidy met up with Steve, before Nova met up with them. "How'd it go?" Cassidy asked as Nova had a slight smile "Good, I talked with a girl named Max. She's new too." She smiled as Steve started driving them home.
A/N first chapter done? whoop whoop! anyways. i posted the first chapter, cast and act one. All in one day. Actually ive never felt more accomplished
