Genius. That was Luciano's mothers' nickname for him. Graduating high school at the age of fifteen, was one of the biggest milestones of Gia Avani Carter's life. Her son's life was always more important than hers, so the fact that he excelled in everything he put his mind to, fulfilled her heart in many ways.
Maternal donor, is what Luciano referred to Gia as. At the age of fifteen, Luciano's life was supposed to be different than what it turned out to be. Graduating early, heading to college, ready to live a normal life.
Normal was no longer in Luciano's vocabulary, especially once his maternal donor got introduced to drugs. They ate away at her brain, morphing her into a disgusting human being. One that would sell her own flesh and blood, just for another high.
...
"Genius!" Gia let out a dry laugh, the nickname she'd gave to her pride and joy just a few weeks go, now a nagging slur that made Luciano's ears bleed.
His mother had accidentally introduced her children to her addiction, the same night of his high school graduation. The way his life did an entire three sixty in less than twenty four hours, had Luciano rethinking his entire existence.
After taking Luciano and his sister: Bella out to dinner, Gia decided to get high. Whilst trying to take his five year old sister to use the potty, Luciano walked in on his mother holding a needle up to her veins.
The sight was something he could never erase from his mind. His mommy, his rock, the strongest, most beautiful woman in the world, was on herion. The sight alone made his mind race, how could he not see the signs? He found it ironic that his nickname was genius, in his words; 'A genius would've realized that his mother was on drugs.'
Sluggishly dragging his feet towards his obviously high mother—she no longer felt the need to hide that she did drugs anymore, at least not from her fifteen year old.
Letting out a deep breath, Luciano's eyes laid on his mother's tan skin. Her hazel green eyes looked soulless, deep bags under them. Licking over her cracked lips, Gia extended her arm, placing it on her son's shoulder. "Listen Lucci, Bella is going away for a while. Okay?"
Nodding her head, Gia motioned her hand to the front door. Luciano watched as the tall mans shadow extended from the corridor, his rough frame coming into view. The perfectly tailored, all black suit not going unnoticed.
He reached up to scratch his scruffy beard, grinning at the young boy. "This is: Antonio. He's going to take your sister and.. give her a better life. You're fifteen now, about to go away for college. So.. Bella deserves a good life too."
