THE CRISP, bitter taste of Chateau Lafite trickled down Kyrei's throat. Sitting directly across from her mother, she placed her glass down onto the cream colored table cloth that enfolded the circular table.

We just buried my father.

That was the only thing that ran through Kyrei's mind as she sat across from her mother. Luna Marie Moreales was nothing short of a beauty, she stood at five foot one, with an astonishing figure. Her hazel brown eyes complimented her circular face, taking a sip of her wine, Luna pushed a piece of her auburn hair behind her ear. The black at the roots of her hair brought out the brown, her loose curls flowing.

"You okay mija?"

Kyrei's head snapped up at her mother's words. The wine she'd indulged in had her a little dizzy—not drunk. Kyrei didn't ever get drunk, nor high in public. Not unless she felt safe, and that was rarely. In the moment, she felt vulnerable. Her mind wasn't in the right state, she was grieving and could barely think straight. Her heart tugged at the thought of her father in a casket, she was just glad he didn't get killed and he died of natural causes.

Clearing her throat, Kyrei placed her hands in her lap. "Not really ma, I can't believe we just buried dad." She gulped, feeling her eyes start to get that familiar stinging feeling. "We're about to live an entirely different life..I never imagined life without him."

Luna reached over the clothed table, Kyrei lifted her hand and her mother placed hers on top. Caressing her daughter's hand, Luna frowned. "Life is about to get very different mija."

Kyrei knew exactly what her mother meant, Kade Moreales was the head of the household. He took care of everything, literally. Now that he was gone, they would have to fend for themselves. They had family, security, chefs, and maids. So they wouldn't have to literally fend for themselves but, when it came to bills, and anything financial they would lack.

Kade was very specific about his money, his family, and his two homes that owned. He handled all of the finances, Luna being an immigrant didn't know much about money, or finance so now that her husband was dead she would have to learn.
