It had been roughly a month since Ratchet and Rivet had helped the recruits and just from the one guest appearance by the two the recruits had increased their speed and efficiency by a drastic margin as they had started adapting both ratchet's and rivet's styles into their own training and in turn this had gained the attention of talwyn and her own team who had been allowed to sit in on some of the other sessions when given the opportunity and soon after Talwyn and some of her own recruits started working side by side with the lombax trainees.
It had been both alister and rex's idea to allow talwyn and her team to practice with the recruits as well and in turn the new council came to an agreement with Talwyn. Only Talwyn's team was allowed to join the lombax trainees for the time being sense they knew she wasn't a danger to them and specified that she was the only group allowed till the lombaxes became more comfortable about showing themselves however the terms were there couldn't be hate towards the lombax species amoung her group which she understood and in turn talwyn had decided to use her status respectfully and pulled some strings so she could get the lombaxes new equipment.
The supplies that she was able to get were very useful especially because it allowed Alister and Rex to take on more recruits and allowed them to hire more staff for the training program so they could get breaks and recover on sleep. The two had been running themselves ragged for the last few months trying to keep up with the influx of lombaxes and so the staff increase was a welcomed change as well as the brand new top of the line equipment that was sent the lombax's way.
On top of those developments the new leaders were thinking of ways to protect the lombaxes even better then before so they didn't have to be forced to run from their home again unless it was absolutely necessary as it became very obvious that several still saw them as betrayers and to exotic traders they were seen as foder for slaughter due to Ratchet and Alister's stories they were willing to talk about a few days ago. With the two willing to tell their stories it was enough information to know that the leaders were needing to make plans to make a underground bunker that could support three times the known amount of lombaxes and enough supplies to feed one hundred alpha grunthor if things were to ever go south.
In a different part of the galaxy Ratchet and rivet were taking time for themselves so Ratchet could show rivet around so she could see what some of the planets looked like in his dimension compared to hers though unknown to rivet however Ratchet planning on taking her to a mall that follows the endangered species protection act that had been put into law after the dreadzone incident so she could get a brand new wardrobe as she only had enough clothes to fill the smallest size of a dresser drawer and only had one handkerchief to call hers which Ratchet felt bad about despite knowing he couldn't of known about her situation if it hadn't been for Dr.Nefarious's impromptu guest appearance in that fateful parade.
*Ratchet's thoughts*
Thinking of the parade it honesty felt like it was the universe's way of saying that I needed to stop toeing around the lion's den and take the step to finally find the lombaxes in its own twisted way though now that the chaos of both the Nefarious incident and the elimination of Tachyon was over I was thankful that I had quite literally fell into Rivet's dimension and had been introduced to Rivet at all and was beyond grateful that shortly after I had gotten Alister back as well because of the zoni's gift and was thankful that despite Alister's mistakes I was happy he was allowed to be reunited with his daughter once again and get revenge on the one that had caused him to hold on to so much remorse, pain and guilt. After Tachyon's defeat Alister's demeanor has switched from being obsessive to a unhealthy degree and has instead became protective of both me and rivet even if it was overwhelming sometimes.
*Ratchet's P.O.V*
Aphelion's voice letting us know we had arrived at our destination was what had woke me from my thoughts as I took back control and then entered metropolis city's atmosphere and started heading towards the surprise location I had planned for Rivet though some movement out of the corner of my eye had me briefly look towards rivet and I couldn't help gaining a smile as rivet was trying to take in everything that she could see while also bouncing a bit in her seat clearly excited and wanting to explore this version of metropolis though I had to remind her to please sit back in her seat just long enough for me to land so she didn't end up hurt and also because aphelion would scold us both about safety for a hour if she didn't and we got a confirmation from aphelion herself by saying "I've already scolded the boys a while back don't think I won't with you rivet I take safety seriously even if I only vaguely remember my original pilot due to damage to my memory banks from the crash I was in I remember I was strict with them too."
In response rivet gave me a pouty face which I thought was admittedly adorable before she actually sat down as I had asked though the moment we landed she had unbuckled herself and jumped out when the hood rose to let us out. I got out soon after and quickly following after her so she didn't get lost which would be very easy as this version was way different from hers.
Soon enough I had caught up to her however not even twenty minutes later she had been yelled at to slow down by a rather unfriendly male and though she did as requested rivet soon looked very uncomfortable as the guy had said something to her that had her lay her ears down while she hid her prosthetic arm from view which didn't sit right with me as she hadn't hid it away from view for a while now and when I got closer I had looked at the guy that had stopped rivet and could see the look of pure disgust in his eyes when he glanced at her mechanical arm which had made me start growling protectively and before I realized it I was running over and stood in front of her before glaring at the guy making sure he knew I was displeased by his behavior by having my ears down and my tail lashed around with little control though even through my protective anger I still kept some semblance of control to make sure I didn't hit rivet's leg with it as like Alister's own tail mine packed a punch if it was going fast enough.
The minute I stood in front of her I was also given a disgusted look for protecting her as the male had said stuff under his breath though I did catch the words "filthy lombaxes" before he went to leave. I could tell the guy was heavily drunk as even from a slight distance I could smell the alcohol on his breath however despite this I hated when people said things under their breath especially involving my species with a passion and had asked them to repeat what all they had just said louder so we could actually hear. Instead of the male repeating himself he responded with a physical action and shoved me hard into Rivet which made us both make a sound of surprise as we crashed into the ground though I could tell rivet had tried to catch me as I had briefly felt her metal hand on my shoulder but in doing so she let out a hiss of pain likely from the pressure shooting through the connection port.
This in turn gained attention from those near by and several tried getting the male to back off though the guy didn't seem to listen or give a crap as he then grabbed me by the collar making sure I couldn't escape and said that he thinks that we were both disgusting though the person I was protecting was the most disgusting person he's ever seen because of her metal arm though before I could make a retort back I had been sent flying and had slammed into a nearby wall back first with surprising force. Soon after the guy had gotten a hefty kick in his lower region by rivet before I faintly heard her run over calling my name though it sounded distant due to the pain I had shooting through my back currently but, I was aware enough to spot the cops arresting the guy and taking him away as he had broken the endangered species rule by attacking basically unprovoked.
As I tried to gain my bearings Rivet and another person kneeled down next to me to see if I was ok and I had given a thumbs up as the nanotech in my travel armor finally got to work in repairing any damage that may have happened. Despite the dull throbbing in my back I was healed enough to try standing up and though I did stumble slightly the other person who I realized to be a male cazar helped steady me and after I had thanked them I had hugged rivet and said "I'm sorry you had to go through that rivet the guy was drunk. Are you ok? He didn't try hurting you physically right?" I had gotten a shake of her head saying "no" before she nuzzled into my neck and stayed there for a bit.
In the background the cazar seemed genuinely happy and though I had offered him some bolts for helping me I had gotten a head shake before he said "you've saved the universe multiple times you shouldn't have to pay people bolts for them doing something as simple as helping you stand. I'm just glad to see your ok and for you miss don't let that guy get to you your fine the way you are and don't let anyone tell you otherwise. I am one of the many that are not against the lombax race unlike others."
"For now you both take an easy and hopefully you don't run into anymore ruffians so you can enjoy the rest of your time here you both deserve it"
with those being his final words the cazar had left and merged back into the crowd.
After that bit of conversation I had asked if rivet had still wanted to shop or if she wanted to head somewhere else and in response she had given me a small smile before she said she still wanted to look around and so we looked around hand in hand and tail wrapped around tail.
