I was just sitting in the airplane wondering about my mom,our shattered life, and the worst stages of our lives. Life has been never better. I just thought how I suffered my whole life. How my mom suffered her whole life. Kyon Allah aapne hamse itne bare imtihan liye? Allah taala meri poori zindagi is dardnaak haqiqat ko bhulati rahi lekin... Allah mian ye mujhe or meri maa ko kis azaab mei daal diya. Yeah. That was my own father. Who betrayed my mom.

19th September, 1993.

Susan's POV.

Today was the first day of my university. NYU. I had mixed emotions. Excited plus nervous. I was a very bright student. I was taking medicine to become a doctor. My parents followed different religions so they both got divorced after sometime and left me alone. My father supported me financially throughout. But I never met them after that day. My parents live in Germany and I did too, once.

But I escaped. From all the wretchedness they had created in my life. There fights, all the horrible screaming, the miserable voices of my mother when she was oppressed by him. But I want to forget everything. Every single hardship ever in my life. My miserable life.

I went in and saw a thousand people running, screaming and laughing in different directions. I had a feeling of unease in me. But I absorbed it. Just when I was messed up in my own thoughts, I realized I had hit someone and was going to fall, when a hand caught me in mid-air. My hair were in front of my face, so I couldn't properly see the face of the person but from his muscular hand, I could sense it was a boy. I just grabbed his hand and stood up properly. Then I could see that I had created a mess as all hi files were on the floor but he didn't seem to care as he was staring at me intently. He was a fair, muscular shaped, beautiful person. His blue eyes. <3 A person could stare at them the whole day and never get tired. But I never got along with people so easily so I just helped him with his files, said sorry and went.

A lady took me to my dorm room and gave me a key and some information. I had my timetable in my hand and my classes had to be started the next day. I looked at the room. They were two single beds at the corners and a window behind them. With that, two tables were also located at the sides of the beds. It was very plain and needed good care and designing which I loved to do. I just got one day to make that room look alive so I changed into a black and white top with black fitted jeans. I made a high pony tail and wore a black leather jacket on it in case it snows.

I just came here straight from the airport so I didn't know where to shop and stuff. So I searched through the internet but I didn't get much info so I just sat in the taxi and asked him. The man drove on his own and took me to a mall. Fortunately, It was awesome. I bought bed sheets, reasonable blankets, a nice wall clock, and decoration pieces. I took sticky notes and other little things which were desperately needed. After two hours of roaming around in the mall, I got so tired and hungry. I chose to eat something in a cafe in that mall.

As I ordered my hot chocolate, I saw that man from the morning sitting, eyes on his mobile texting someone. Just as I saw him, I remembered that my phone broke so I had to buy a new one. I hurriedly went outside and into the shop. While going, he saw me and smirked a little. I could feel my heartbeat fasten as he said, 'Ehh.. Excuse me ?'

I looked at him and hesitantly replied, 'Yeah ?'

He said, ' I saw you today in my uni. You're the same girl, right? May I know your name?'

My heart skipped a beat as I have never talked to strangers my whole life. 'Yeah. I'm susan.'

'Nice name, btw. I am Shaheer. You can join. I mean, will you join me, please?' He complimented as he moved the chair for me.

I didn't know what to say so I just sat. After some awkward silent moments, he spoke, ' So is it your first year?'

'Yeah'

'Oh nice. Same btw.'

'Oh.'

'So your parents..?'

'They live in Germany.'

'Then why did you come here? I mean it's far, man.'

'Yeah. I know. But.....they're divorced.'

'I'm really sorry, I didn't know.'

'No, it's alright. Yours?'

'They live in Pakistan. If you know this country. It's in Middle East. I'm a Muslim btw. But I'm not a terrorist.' In the end he had expressions of both curiosity and amusement.

'Ehh..I know. My mother was a muslim too. And it was the clash of religion which made them divorce. My mother had changed her religion for him but he still doubted.'

'Oh. That's bad. I'm really sorry again. So do you just study in NYU or you live there?'

'Yeah, I live there. In one of the dorm rooms.'

'Me too. We'll catch up then.'

' Yeah. Right now I have to buy myself a new phone so we'll meet later, okay? Bye.' I said, getting up from the chair with my hot chocolate which was still untouched.

I bought myself a phone with my credit card and went back. I was so tired that I just jumped on the bed and slept. It was around 5 pm when I woke up. I saw a bag on the other bed and got to know that someone came when I was sleeping. That's when it hit me. I was going to do my medical with a roommate which means it can be a boy too. Please god, help me.
