"¿How is that possible?" said JungHyun in sudden terror "¿How do you know about SeokJin?"
"When we were kids once I fell down and you still without seeing me, you burst into tears as if you were in pain, ¿remember?" asked JungKook getting up from his seat and approaching his brother slowly "I also got fever when you had a cold even though I wasn't sick. You, brother, you can't hide anything from me..."
"But this is different, there's no way you'll even know his name unless..." JungHyun stopped point blank as if an idea had struck him, and in a matter of seconds he ran to the first floor, to his room, knelt down in front of his suitcase and started going through all the contents until he found his diary.
"¿You think I read your stupid diary?" asked JungKook as he looked at it.
"You had no right, JungKook!" he exclaimed on the brink of tears.
"¡I didn't!" he shouted "You kept repeating that name last night, while you were asleep. I had no need to go through your things, JungHyun, you're an idiot who can't even keep a secret."
JungHyun stood up clutching the leather paste diary to his chest.
"¿Did I really repeat your name?"
"SeokJin, SeokJin, Jin, Jin, ¡Jin all damn night! I was about to kick you, but I kept waiting for more information... which you didn't give, by the way."
"Okay, you're right, there is, ¡there was!" he corrected himself "a SeokJin or Jin as I used to call him, and I'll probably tell you about him later, but not now, please. Don't ask me anymore" he begged before getting down.
JungKook followed closely behind him and didn't miss the instant his twin brother burned the newspaper in the tin trash can in the garden.
"You didn't have to do that," JungKook said.
"If you know anything more about him I want it to be because I told you and I'm not going to live in fear of you taking my diary."
"You know I wouldn't do something like that, JungHyun."
"When we were kids you fell down once and even though I didn't see you, I cried. You also had a fever when I had a cold. I know you better than anyone else.
FACING THE SAME FACE
The next week passed pleasantly between trips to the movies, eating out, and cycling around the surrounding area. JungHyun wanted to pretend that everything was fine, but JungKook couldn't miss the moments when his brother would look off into nothingness and sigh, or when he would seem to be listening to him, but the next minute he would ask what he had just been told. Mostly, it was impossible for JungKook not to notice the moans JungHyun exhaled every time he fell into a deep sleep. Several times he approached his bed and saw him crying in his sleep, always hoping that he would say more than just a name, but only "Jin" came out of his mouth incessantly. Then, he began to think that this was much bigger than a random heartbreak and a bad feeling took over his holidays with his brother.
At that time of the year, thunderstorms were raging in the country and it was rarely an afternoon without rain, so at that time of the year they used to go home to watch serials or read. It was the Sunday before the sun went down, when JungHyun approached his brother who was drinking banana milk on the sofa while watching the weather report on TV, waiting for some comedy show to start after the news.
