JungKook looked at the red stain spreading across his rain-soaked white shirt, wiped the rest of the blood from his lower lip with the back of his hand, and raised his face to the sky. He would have liked to find a bright sun to warm his skin and make him believe that things would get better, but the drops that hit him made it clear that the sun would not come out that day. His trousers, jacket, suitcase and shoes were as soaked as his hair. He looked at the company where he had worked for the last three years since his university graduation, and smiled a bent smile.
With every step his footwear evoked an unpleasant sloshing sound, people watched him pass by rather curiously, thinking that someone with such a semblance of formality should at least have money for a taxi and not walk in the middle of the city in that monstrous storm. He had money, of course, but his phone had ended up under the feet of his ex-girlfriend, he tried to hail every taxi he could find on his way, however, in such weather it seemed that they were all busy.
He had been involved with Rin since his early days in that company where he was an accountant, his boss's daughter and also worked in the accounting department. It was hard not to end up in bed when they spent day and night together devising the best way to keep the business afloat, but they had a rather stormy ending, which ended up putting him out of the company as well.
When he opened the door of his house he found himself face to face with himself, from a slightly leaner body, with longer, curlier, lighter hair. He wore glasses and a plaid coat and, of course, he wasn't soaking wet.
"Oh my God, ¿what happened to you?" asked his alter ego who ran to get a towel before reaching over to rub his head with it.
"I'm fine" replied JungKook in a hoarse voice and still a little surprised. His doppelganger didn't seem to have heard him because he kept rubbing him with the dry towel full of worry and talking too fast, questioning why he hadn't called a taxi or something "Calm down, JungHyun, look at me" he called him "SHUT UP" he yelled, at last "Fuck, you're so annoying. ¿What are you doing here?"
"Well, I... I'm back." JungHyun replied not knowing what else to say.
"I can see that" he walked to his bedroom "without a call or a simple message."
"I thought you'd be happy to see me" he muttered with a pout as JungKook undressed in front of him to put on dry clothes.
"You surprised me" he resolved pulling up his cotton trousers "but of course I'm glad to see you bro, ¡come here!" JungKook spread his arms as wide as his smile and both twins wrapped their arms around each other affectionately. Minutes later they were drinking coffee at the kitchen table.
"¿Are you going to explain to me why you looked like a homeless puppy a while ago, JungKook?" asked JungHyun.
"Oh that, I fought with Rin, we broke up," he replied nonchalantly.
"¿Who's Rin?"
"My girlfriend, well, ex. And also my ex-boss's daughter and my competition for a better position in the company. I guess she's getting the raise" he smiled.
"Oh, I'm sorry" he held his hand "it must have been very stressful for you to compete with your girlfriend for the job".
"No, that's not exactly why we broke up. The last few months we argued all the time and then we were indifferent about everything, until today things got really ugly in the office, we shouted at each other and her father found out about us. No one knew about us and, in the end, it seemed as if I was taking advantage of his beloved daughter, so he didn't hesitate to fire me. She broke my phone" he guffawed "I gave her those heels, ¿you know? I should have given her a perfume!" said JungKook shaking his head.
