Hi guys, I am going to try and upload a chapter for this story every Monday/Tuesday, depending on what's going on.

---

They were found by someone after the bright orb above them had set.

Their voice had given out by the time that had happened, and their saviour had followed their whimpers to find them.

He called himself Break.

Maybe that was due to the massive fractures on his face...

They didn't know.

But he did give them something important.

A name.

Solace.

Although, after it happened, they did wish that they could have skipped their meeting with Break's friend...

----

Solace nervously stared at the weird skeleton that was poking at their legs, Break was frowning, but the newcomer's face didn't change as he continued to make Solace's legs bend in weird ways.

Break had brought his friend to them after Solace had spent sereval days just lying on his sofa, not even bothering to move anything below their thighs, and asking him to grab items for them.

When Solace had accidentally spilt hot tea on their legs, and they didn't scream, or show that they were in any kind of pain, Break had called his friend for help.

Lilac eyelights brightened up as the newcomer skeleton finally left their legs alone, putting his tools away as he got up.

"Stone... Are they okay?" Break asked him.

"No..." Stone's dusky pink eyelights dimmed. "They're not okay... They can't feel anything below their thighs, and that shouldn't be happening. Their mana lines are intact... They're actually brand new... And their bones are in perfect condition. They should be able to use their legs, but they can't..."

"Is it..."

Stone gently placed a hand on Break's right shoulder. "I can't tell you that without using better equipment to make a proper diagnosis... And we both know that will be impossible to achieve, without jumping through a few hoops."

Break sighed. "That damn Council... It's all their fault..."

"I know... It makes me wish that I didn't ditch my phone before I moved out here, but they've turned those things into trackers, it would have been impossible to get them to Sci without the Council learning about them."

Solace tilted their head to one side, and they warbled. They were still learning how to talk properly, and while they could warble, scream, chirr and hum, they didn't actually know how to speak using words.

They would use the sounds that they could make now, to communicate with Break, and a warble meant that they had a question.

"Wondering what the Council is Solace?" Break asked, still getting used to the different sounds that Solace would use as their main method of verbal communication.

Solace nodded their head.

"It's a long story... One that's best told over a plate of cake and biscuits." Break smiled when he saw the excited look on Solace's face. "And yes, I have chocolate cake and biscuits."

Solace happily chirped. They loved chocolate.
