Solace winced as they rubbed their knees, they didn't like the feeling of the stuff that Stone had injected into their Mana, and Ley, Lines, to make them show up, when they took an X-Ray of them.

Stone was frowning as he went over them, with his foot tapping against the floor. "When I get my hands on whoever was your Guardian before us, or your biological parents..."

"What's wrong?" Break asked him. "Did something bad show up on the X-Rays?"

"Bad?" Stone growled. "This isn't bad, it's criminal."

"Criminal?" Break asked.

Stone sighed. "According to the images, about the area where the two different coloured Ecto meets, the lines there are a mess... they are full of holes."

"What does that mean?" Solace asked.

"It means, that you can't walk Little Petal." Stone frowned. "Not without outside help. The smaller holes will heal, but these Lines are what sends your commands to your legs, the Magic in them is constantly on the move, and we can't stop it, long enough, for the biggest holes to heal."

Solace had a confused look on their face, and Break just sighed.

"What he's trying to say is that, in the lines that helps you feel things in your legs, there's a lot of holes, and your Magic can't reach your legs, because of them." Break explained. "It's like my eyelight, I can't see because of it being blocked. You can't walk because of blocks in your legs."

Solace nodded their head. "That makes sense, so I can't walk because a few stitches that hold my legs together are missing?"

Stone nodded his head. "Exactly, that is what's wrong with them." He smiled. "Once your legs are stronger, some of the missing stitches will reappear, and close some of the smaller holes, but we can't fix the bigger ones."

"You can't?" Solace warbled. "Why?"

"Because they just can't be healed Little Petal. We can't fix everything." Stone sadly told him. "The flow of your Magic can't be stopped. If we stopped it to heal your wounds, your legs would die before we could heal them. Your legs need Magic to stay alive, and without it, they would die, and you would lose them forever."

"And even if we could do that, no one has the ability to heal your wounds." Break sadly said. "And by the time we could find someone, they might be too old to be healed."

"Oh..." Solace frowned, but they were knocked out of their thoughts, when Break gently patted the top of their skull.

"But this won't stop you from living a life... There are things that we can do, to help you live a normal life. You'll be okay, Solace... So don't cry... After all, it's our jobs as your legal caretakers to help you with this." Break smiled.

"... Dadda? Papa?" Solace asked, sniffling.

"Yes, Little Petal?" Stone asked, smiling as he put his papers down, and he hugged his kid.

Solace's eyelights widened, with tears starting to fall down their face, as they reached out, and they returned Stone's hug.

Break smiled, and he reached out, hugging his small family, kissing the top of Solace's skull, as he felt a parent/child bond slip into place. "We're here Solace. We'll help you get through this."

"Promise?"

"We promise."

Okay, this one was hard for me to write. I had to do a bit of research, and just writing the explanation to Solace about why their legs don't work just hurt my head, and my heart...

But basically, the kid's legs don't work properly because their nerves (Mana lines, and Ley Lines), have been damaged before the story began.

From above the knees to below them, those lines are littered with holes, making it almost impossible for commands to reach their legs, or for their legs to send information back.

And while the smaller holes will heal after some rest, with the lines also being the main route for Magic to reach their legs, the larger holes can't be healed, due to the flow of Magic keeping them open.

Solace is basically in a catch 20 situation, if the flow of Magic is stopped, so that the more serious damage to their nerves can be healed, there is a risk of their legs dying from the lack of Magic, causing problems for them later, and leading to them permanently losing their legs.

If the flow of Magic isn't stopped, the damage isn't healed, but their legs will never work properly again, leading to them being an ambulatory wheelchair user for the rest of their life, or them using braces, and crutches, as walking aids.

However, later on, they will get a temporary way for their Magic to go around the damaged parts of their legs, but it won't be a permanent thing.
