ෆ running into an ex, leading to the possibility of memory lane
1995
"Don't forget the eggs, I work this weekend, and you know Jay likes to make breakfast"
"I know ma, you don't have to keep repeating it," you groaned, as she walked you to the door.
"Yes I do, you always end up forgetting something, now go ahead, it's getting late"
"Hey ma," Michelle, your best friend, since diapers waved, as you opened the door.
"Hey baby, hurry up girl," she scolded you.
"I am, damn," you mumbled.
"Watch your mouth, and go, before I change my mind," she reached for her slipper, as you ran, laughing at her.
Tonight was a rare occasion, you finally agreed to Michelle's pleading to come to a block party. You hadn't been to much of anything since starting college classes, only leaving home for work and school.
Your mother, although persistent about you going to have a little fun, mostly cared because she wanted you to stop and grab a few groceries, for your baby brother.
"I'm surprised you even agreed tonight girl"
"I didn't have any work to do," you shrugged, as you both began the short walk.
"So who you looking cute for? Nasir fine ass, huh?" she smirked, while you gave her a side eye.
Nasir was your ex boyfriend. You began dating him when you were a senior in high school, soon to be graduating. He was hardly hustling anymore, more so pursuing his music career.
You simply grew too busy for each other. He was willing to spend hours of his time in the studio, while you were in the books. He had his way of making it out of the projects, while you found your own.
