I looked around in the cupboards in the kitchen, feeling somewhat guilty for what felt like snooping.
"There's gotta be antiseptic in here somewhere," I muttered, opening the last cabinet and finding it completely empty, except for a single plate, bowl, and cup.
"Or not," I sighed. My soap and water solution would have to suffice for now.
I went back into the living room, leaving only the kitchen light on so I didn't disturb Yellow, who was still fast asleep on the couch.
I sat in the chair I had taken from the dining room table and placed next to her makeshift bed.
"Sorry," I said to her, ignoring the fact that she had been unresponsive for the past few hours. "It doesn't look like there's any disinfectant in the house. Not even hand sanitizer! Your hands will be okay for a little while, though, don't worry."
I was still taken aback from earlier. When I had first found her, her fingertips were dripping blood. The fact that she just collapsed without even looking up from that butterfree was just as worrying, maybe more so.
At least the bleeding had stopped by now, and the area was relatively clean.
"Some kinda reunion this is, huh?" I asked after a long beat of silence, fondling Pika's ears. He was sitting by Yellow's feet, calmer now than he had been an hour ago, thank goodness. Having a tiny angry volt machine running around in a panic definitely had made the already scary situation that much more stressful.
"You know, I was looking forward to paying everyone in town a visit, but having one of my best friends randomly faint in the middle of the woods kinda threw a wrench in my plans," I continued conversationally.
My only response was a concerned noise from Pika.
"Yeah, I know, buddy. I'm worried too," I said quietly.
At least her situation didn't look too dire. She was sleeping peacefully and her pulse was steady. The best course of action, I decided, was to wait until she woke up. Then I could actually talk to her and assess the damages.
"I guess this is what I get for being gone so long," I murmured.
Chuchu, snuggled protectively by Yellow's head, made a disapproving squeak at me. I smiled apologetically.
"Sorry, Chuchu. I was actually doing some very important-"
I was rudely interrupted by a very loud bang in the front hall.
"What the heck?!" I yelped. I jumped up from my seat to confront the source of the sound.
Blue standing in his entry hall in a fight stance, his Scizor right behind him, was not what I expected.
We stood in silence for a beat, processing.
"Who the heck kicks down their own front door?" I asked, sitting back down in my chair after it finally registered that I was not actually in danger. I looked to Yellow to see if the loud noise had startled her awake, but she was still as conked out as ever.
"Who the heck leaves for two years and cuts contact for months in a row and then breaks into their friend's house without any warning whatsoever?" he retorted, recalling Scizor.
So much for a warm welcome. Then again, coming from Blue, what did I expect?
"I didn't break in, thanks very much," I retorted, addressing only the last of his complaints.
"How did you get in, then? And is that Yellow on my couch?" He raised his eyebrow at me with a very different judgmental expression than the one he had previously been wearing.
