The best morning, the teens with 'tude were all getting their power weapons from the lockers. Well, all except Zack.
"Hey guys! My axe won't stop following me! Everywhere I put it it comes back!"
They dismissed him and just assumed he was just really tired. Billy spoke to the group.
"I hear they're assigning teams today. But they only come in teams of 2."
That was an issue because the Rangers needed to be together for their powers to be at full strength.
"We'll if we're lucky," says Kim. "There's six of us so it shouldn't matter too much. Easy." But they all subconsciously knew that in the life of a Power Ranger, things were never easy.
All of the first year students make their way to the cliffside by Beacon. They are met with Ozpin giving another speech.
"For years, you have trained to become warriors, and today, your abilities will be evaluated in the Emerald Forest."
Goodwitch speaks after him. "Now, I'm sure many of you have heard rumors about the assignment of "teams." Well, allow us to put an end to your confusion. Each of you will be given teammates... today."
From the crowd, Trini notices someone say "What? Ohhh..."
Ozpin continues. "These teammates will be with you for the rest of your time here at Beacon. So it is in your best interest to be paired with someone with whom you can work well."
Jason chuckles. "Well that shouldn't-"
"That being said, the first person you make eye contact with after landing will be your partner for the next four years."
"Crap."
"After you've partnered up, make your way to the northern end of the forest. You will meet opposition along the way. Do not hesitate to destroy everything in your path... or you will die."
Zack laughs with Trini. "Normal Tuesday being a Power Ranger." He sighed. "It's never easy."
"You will be monitored and graded through the duration of your initiation, but our instructors will not intervene. You will find an abandoned temple at the end of the path containing several relics. Each pair must choose one and return to the top of the cliff. We will regard that item, as well as your standing, and grade you appropriately. Are there any questions?"
Billy raises his hand.
"Good! Now, take your positions."
The Rangers all take their positions on the pad.
A boy on the pad raises his hand. "Uh, sir? I've got, um... a question. So, this landing... strategy thing... Uh, wha-what is it? You're, like, dropping us off or something?"
"No. You will be falling."
"Oh, uh, I see... So, like, did you hand out parachutes for us?"
"No. You will be using your own landing strategy."
"Uh-huh... Yeah."
More and more students started getting launched and for some reason, the Rangers were all launched last and at the same time. It was accompanied with screams of excitement from all of them except Billy who was screaming of fear.
The Rangers get a view of the Emerald Forest. It wasn't unlike the forest they had been in when they first arrived. Each Ranger ground their way down. Zack used the Power Axe's Cannon mode and fired at the ground, the recoil slowing their fall. Trini had the same idea but was instead using two Blade Blasters, the second one being acquired from Zack who forgot about his. Kim used a separate mode on the Power Bow to create a zipline between the cliff and the ground. Tommy rode with her. Jason used the fire that the Power Sword created to jet himself upward slightly to negate the impact while grabbing Billy. They all found their way down.
