"Waiting for a cab to accept your ride"
It's almost quarter to 10, and I'm standing in front of the college gate, trying to book a cab. I've been trying for the past 10 minutes on all three apps—Ola, Uber, and Rapido—but none of them are accepting my home location. It's so frustrating! Three of my friends stayed in the hostel, so they left, and my other friend, Aadhya, went with her school friend. I had told my parents that all of us would take a cab home together. College buses were available, but only till Uppal and I just didn’t feel like taking the bus.
Suddenly, my phone rang—it was Aadhya calling. "Haan bol re," I said while still trying to book a cab. "Pranjal, did you get in the cab?" she asked seriously. Oh no! Now what should I do? "Haan re, cab book ho gayi, bas 2 min me aa jayegi," I lied to her. I felt bad, but I couldn’t do anything. She might feel guilty for leaving me alone, and I didn’t want that. She said okay and told me to text her once I reached home. After we hung up, I looked up at the sky. The moon was really pretty tonight. I took a picture of it and just stared at it. Standing alone in the darkness with the moon shining beautifully above me, I sighed with this thought. This day couldn’t have gone worse. First, I couldn’t meet him even though we were so close, but I guess destiny had other plans. And now, this whole cab frustration. "Kanha ji, mere saath hi aisa kyun?" I pouted and complained like a child.
Suddenly, a white posh sedan stopped right in front of me. Confused, I took a step back. As the car window rolled down, my eyes widened.
Atharva Kashyap was right in front of me! Well, this just got interesting. He looked at me and waved, signaling me to come closer. I stepped forward and leaned down to talk to him,"Miss.ddlj any problem?" he asked in his deep voice, giving me a curious look. I sighed. "Well, umm... I’ve been trying to book a cab, but none are available to take me home."
He parked the car to the side and stepped out, walking toward me. "Lemme check," he said, pulling out his phone. After two minutes, he let out a long sigh. "No cabs are available nearby." I looked at him, worried. "Where are your friends?" he asked. "Uh... they went home." He shot me a look. "Leaving you here all alone?"
