if i could grant you peace of mind, if you could let me inside your heart
~ That Would Be Enough by Phillipa Soo & Lin-Manuel Miranda
it was a warm summer day, you were headed to Jujutsu High to visit your good friend Satoru. you had met him through your younger sister, Maki, when she had been a student of his. you had left the Zenin clan years ago, leaving Maki behind but took her in when she had started at Jujutsu High a few years ago. you had been wandering the campus for some time now. "where is this man. did he get called-," "Y/N!" you look over your shoulder, your sister walking up to you, Megumi following close behind her. "hello, Megumi," you greet the boy. "Y/n. how are you?" he says blandly. "i'm good, just looking for Satoru," you say, looking over your shoulder in hopes he'd appear out of nowhere. Maki rolled her eyes, throwing a hand on her hip, "seriously, Y/n. you're in love with that man," she tosses her head to the side. "what?! seriously?!" Megumi says in shock. your face goes red, "Maki!" you whine, "seriously, in front of Megumi of all people...," you mumble, looking down at your fingers as they twirled the end of your skirt. Megumi's body seemed to twitch, his eyes widening as he looked at you. this was the most expressive you've seen him as he had been more quiet and standoff-ish, didn't make much conversation if at all. "have you seen him?" you ask. "last i saw him he was headed to Itadori's room," Maki sighs with a shrug of her shoulders. you nod, saying your goodbyes and heading toward the dorms.
it wasn't unusual to be attracted to Satoru Gojo, most women were and most guys looked up to him. knowing this you did your best to avoid liking him but the more the two of you talked, the harder you found it to ignore your feelings. sure he was good looking but he was genuinely nice and caring, he was a joy to be around and he had more to him than his students realised. you were certain you were being delusional to think he felt remotely the same towards you. reaching the dorms, you knock on the door, nervously biting your lips. it wasn't long before the door swung open, "oh, hey Y/n!" the pink haired boy smiled widely. "hi, Yuji! is Satoru here? Maki said he was coming over," you ask the boy to which he shook his head no. "he left a little bit ago, actually. not sure where he was headed, i'm sorry," he frowns. you look down a little disappointed. "have you tried calling him?" your eyes wide as your stupidity settles in, hitting your forehead with your hand. "thanks, Yuji!" you wave him goodbye and head back outside. no answer. you try again a few more times continuing to walk, still no luck. you decide to check his office one more time. the door had been shut but it was unlocked unlike last time. you step through to see him sat in his chair, head laid on his desk.
you walk up to him quietly incase he had been asleep. "Satoru?" you whisper, no response. you reach out to him just as he lifted his head, his soft hair coming in contact with your fingers. he raises his head up to you, not saying a word. "Satoru, are you okay?" you ask, examining the little bit of face you could see of him with his blindfold on. he stands up, walking around his desk up to you. he places a hand on your head and ruffles your hair, "how are you, Y/n?" he asks with a smile, his hand falling beside him to rest on his desk. "Satoru-," "i'm okay, Y/n," he reassures knowing you wouldn't drop it. you reach out and grab his blindfold, pulling it off his head. his eyes stared down at you, deadness filling them up. "you can't hide from me, Satoru. what's wrong?" you place the blindfold on the desk next to you. he doesn't respond just looks away. he knew you saw through him, you were always good at picking up on how he felt and what he was thinking no matter how hard he tried to hide it. "just thinking too much," he sighs, "but i'm fine now. i can't be sad when you're around, now can i?" he smiles, walking over to his bookshelf. "you can feel however you want around me, Satoru," you speak without thinking, knowing who he had been thinking out before you walked in. he pauses for a split second. as though his whole body skipped a beat. it was silent for a moment as you watched him reorganize his books. you walk up to him, your hand shaking nervously as you grab the book he was holding. he looked down at you, still clinging to the book. "Satoru, i can't," you pause for a moment, your heart racing, pounding against your chest. you clench the book a little tighter as you stared into his blue eyes. "i can't change what you've had to go through and god do i wish i could. i don't have much to give you, i can't protect you the way i wish i could but... i love you Satoru," your hands shake against the book, speaking a lot faster than intended. he didn't say anything. only stared at you as silence filled the room. you quickly let go of the book, grabbing his blindfold from his desk. "i'm sorry," hands shaking more than before, you slip the cover back over his eyes. "i'll let myself out. i'm sorry. i shouldn't have.. i'm sorry" you panic, turning on your heels to walk away.
before you could walk out the door, he had pushed it closed. you get tugged back by him, finding yourself staring at his chest. you could feel his heart pounding against your own chest. you take in a deep breath before you lay your head against him, hugging him tightly. the two of you stayed like this for a few minutes before he finally pulled away, leaning down inches from your face. he stops himself from making contact with your lips. "i'm sorry, Y/n," he says in a whisper. you felt your heart break. the pounding in your chest immediately stops, your heart knotting and twisting itself. you thought heartbreak wasn't physically painful, people were just being dramatic. how naive you felt now. "i can't risk being with you," he doesn't move any closer to you, or any further. "risk?" you question, confusion and sadness clouding your mind. "i have too many enemies to be with anyone. if something happened to you... i can't risk losing you too," his hand had trailed to your face, you flinch at the contact. "please, Satoru," you whisper, almost inaudible. "Satoru, please... let me in," you grab hold of his hand on your face, gripping it tightly. he bites his lip, his own hand clenching a little. "please," you feel a burning lump in your throat, "please," tears threaten your eyes, "plea-" his lips press against yours. he slowly pulls away, placing his forehead against yours. "why'd you have to beg," he breathes out. you smile softly as he wipes the tear falling down your cheek, pulling you back in for another kiss.
