Carlisle knew that his own misery was nowhere comparable to what his mate was feeling, and it helped that she was unconscious whilst healing throughout her entire transformation, but he knew first-hand how torturous the ordeal was. Even if he wished to live in bliss, Edward's account of her thoughts and Jasper's of her emotions proved just as much.
Carlisle didn't leave Emma's side for the entire three days. He instead watched, without so much as even blinking, afraid to miss even the slightest sign of life, as his mate laid lifeless on his bed. The family didn't even bother trying to move him, knowing even Emmett's strength wouldn't be able to remove him from the room.
When Edward was home, he would sit in the room with him and just listen to her internal screams of agony. He knew that it wasn't his fault that Emma had been hurt, but he couldn't help but feel guilty. The rest of the family had assured Edward repeatedly that he was of no blame. When Edward wasn't at the house, he was with Bella, enjoying being newly engaged and in love. Bella stayed away from the house for the time being, just in case Emma awoke and smelled the human girl.
Bella fought Edward hard, desperate to see her friend as she was the one being protected when Victoria attacked. If anything, it was Bella's fault that Emma had gotten hurt. And Bella knew that. Thankfully, Edward's, Esme's, and Amari's assurances helped her, as well as Edward, realize and accept that they were not at fault, that the only one they could blame was Victoria for Emma's state.
Emmett, Esme, and Amari were the comfort providers of the family for the time. Rosalie believed that Carlisle had chosen wrong and had refused to even look at him, much less talk to him, since the battle. The only reason she even stayed at the house was to make sure Emma was still alive – well, as alive as she could be while turning into the dead. Jasper was a mess, having grown fond of the woman and seeing her as another motherly figure, just as he did Esme.
Alice was heartbroken, not only because she was at risk of losing a dear friend and confidant, but that Carlisle could lose his mate. She had foreseen many things – them meeting, their first date, their first kiss, them falling in love, even a wedding – but she hadn't foreseen this. She would have foreseen Emma's death if the transformation didn't work. When she hadn't, she expected a vision of Emma as a vampire clear in her mind, standing along Carlisle and happy. But she hadn't gotten that either. Which meant either the transformation truly wasn't set in stone, or that Emma would turn but she wouldn't accept it herself.
Waiting was agony. They couldn't be sure when Emma would even wake up, much less when. All he could do was listen to the faint beat of her heart as it slowly pumped blood and venom through her veins. Alice, Rosalie, and Esme had changed her into a white slip dress, but even her beauty was partly lost due to her body's damage.
