**7.15pm**
I had just returned home from a draining day at school. My heart was pounding as i trudged through the front door, gasping for breath. His bag felt heavier than usual, and his legs ached from the long walk.
—
"Y/N! Come here!" The voice of my mother rang through the house. It wasn't her usual tone, it was rather... excited. Too excited. I noticed my father was sitting at the dining table, which was a bit odd. My dad was usually sprawled on the couch, beer in hand, engrossed in a football game.
"Errrr... what's up?" I looked up at my mom, my eyebrows furrowing in confusion.
"Son, could you please sit down?" His voice unusually serious. The sudden seriousness from my dad caught me off-guard. Nonetheless, i complied, reluctantly. I wasn't sure what was about to transpire, but i went with it.
"Do you want me to tell him?" my father glanced at my mom, his voice filled with a hint of uncertainty. "Tell me what?" I wondered aloud. The unusual behavior from my parents was making me feel a bit weird. i observed my parents whispering to each other, before my mom finally cleared her throat.
"I've got some exciting news! But... I'm not sure if you'll like it.." she stammered, her voice shaky with nervous anticipation. She was worried that I'd freak out probably.
"What's up..?" I asked, my eyes darting between my parents. A part of me was apprehensive regarding what she was about to reveal, but he decided to listen. Even though i often found her ramblings tiresome, i figured it was best to humor her.
"We're moving.." she announced, her voice barely louder than a whisper. She quickly continued, "I know we have lived here all our life, but recently, I've received a job offer that I've always wanted and... it's in Plainview.."
"Oh.. cool," i said, my voice devoid of any enthusiasm. To be honest, the idea of moving was exciting. Nobody would know me or my past there... and those rumors that had plagued me would cease to exist. The embarrassing moments from my past would lose their relevance. A faint smile crossed my face, though it wasn't really noticeable.
"You aren't mad..?" His mother asked, her eyes wide with surprise. When she noticed the slight smile on his face, she let out a small sigh of relief. I shook my head in response. I would miss a few friends, but overall, i was thrilled about the move yet i didn't show it in the slightest."Well, you should start packing. We leave in about 3-4 days and we want you to be prepared for when we leave."
I simply nodded in response. My mother continued, "Well, darling.. dinner will be ready in an hour." "What're we having?" I asked. "Pot roast," she replied. The boy nodded again and made his way to his room.
-In his room-
I walked into my room, a space that was all too familiar, yet soon to be left behind. I sighed heavily, my gaze sweeping over the room. I buried his face in my hands for a moment. Thankfully, my room was pretty basic, and I didn't have a lot of personal belongings to pack. Just my clothes, bed sheets, pillows, and a few necessities. "Ehhh, I'll pack later," I thought to myself, deciding to put off the task for now. Instead, he jumped onto my bed, pulling out my iPod and headphones,.
