WAITING FOR NEVER

CHAPTER 5

Maya had just come out of the shower and decided to face-time her resort sweetheart, Frank.

"There you are,  I thought you had forgotten all about me "

Frank teased  when he answered and gave a light chuckle . Maya let out a soft laugh.

"I did try though.  You seem like trouble.  "

Maya said and they both laughed . They spent hours talking  about what they've been up to since they left the resort. 
They basically got to know a lot more about each other,  while Frank found out that Maya was super funny and multi talented,  Maya found out that Frank loved to paint and he usually rescued endangered animals.

It was undeniable,  there was a little  spark between.  But whether or not that spark would grow into a flame , it depended on Maya.

She spent so much time in therapy trying  to  heal from what she  went through and it got better.  Sometimes,  she could go as good as a whole month without triggers or anything. 

Regardless of her improvement,  she didn't give thought to being a new relationship although she constantly nagged Gia to get a boyfriend. 

It's not that she was terrified or anything.  She just never thought about it for herself . It all began to change when she met Frank .

Frank on the other hand , had suffered a great deal of heartbreaks and betrayal.  His first serious girlfriend,  took off with his step dad and they got married after his step dad separated from his mom .

His mom died a few years after that from lung cancer . He wasn't really in a serious relationship after that. It was just occasional flings and being a sexual support system for his female friends when they needed him to be . Can't blame him  though,  he never gave any of them reason to believe he loved them .

Then, he finally met Selena . She changed everything and healed almost every wound . She was kind and the prettiest girl he had ever seen .

They got engaged at some point  and on one faithful day, when he was away on a business trip, robbers broke into his apartment and during the robbery , Selena got shot while trying to shelter her niece from a stray bullet.

Jerrica's parent had died in a plane crash a few months earlier and she had been living with her aunt Selena since then. Selena decided to move in with Frank when they got engaged to get Jerrica to feel comfortable around him and it was going well, until the robbery.

Frank then adopted Jerrica and she had been his priority ever since . He had no time to think about getting into a relationship until he met Maya at the resort.  His Sister had suggested he'd go on vacation and take a break from everything and offered to take care of Jerrica until he came back . And that's how it went .

Frank didn't know about Maya's past and Maya didn't know about his . It's like they were both waiting for the right time to completely open up to each other.  Unfortunately,  Frank run out of time.

Jerrica was having trouble sleeping and she went to Frank's room for comfort. 

"I can't sleep, I had a bad dream ...I saw mummy,  she wanted to take me with her . "
