Ash made a quick recovery from being knocked out from the fall from the tree but her bones were still broken, which was not ideal. She was in a world of pain and it broke the commandos hearts to see her like that. Boss was in another room working on something to aid in her recovery. He sewed and put together a little rabbit plush, it was white but it's ears and limbs faded into black much like her hair, this plushie was for her and to help comfort her where he couldn't for now, if he hugged her he could rip her stitches or anything of the sort. He returned to the medbay to see that Adam was playing with her with some toys on her bed. She still did have a broken back that was still healing so she wasn't able to get up yet, she looked happier than usual, playing with her twin brother.
Adam knew she was in a lot of pain and discomfort and there wasn't much that he could do since he isn't medically eligible for it, so he's just doing his best to help her feel happy. He looked at Boss walking in and looked really excited as he held his sisters hand "Sissy!! Sissy! Bosh came back and he has something for you." He got her attention and she looked at Boss who handed her the plushie and she hugged it tightly. Ash hadn't been sleeping well on account of her being in so much pain. Unfortunately for her she was genetically modified with an even faster metabolism than even clones have, normal painkillers and anesthesia didn't have much effect on her, and they couldn't increase the dosage in fear of giving her an overdose of something stronger. She felt a wave of sadness from lack of sleep melt away as she held the plush, and she felt so happy she started crying. Boss smiled at that, he was happy that she was happy, and asked her "How do you like it ak'ida?" She looked at him gratefully, nothing but gratitude and love filled her eyes. "I love this, thank you." His 6 year old sister answered, she looked so happy playing with it, feeling how soft it was, and playing with her twin brother.
After about two more weeks, Ash was finally able to move and try to walk again, this time with the aid of crutches, and it was very difficult for her to figure out. Boss was right by her side, ready to catch her if she fell, "Come on Ash, you can do it." He encouraged her as she was shaking, her whole body getting used to being on its feet again. "I almost.. got it." She said as she was doing her best to figure it out on her own, Adam and the others cheering her on. She managed to take a few steps before getting ahead of herself and she tried to walk faster, unfortunately she slipped and fell forward. Boss caught her and helped her up right before she hit the floor and he kneeled down to her level, putting a hand on her shoulder and looked her in the eyes and told her something that she needed to hear, "Ash, I know you're eager to get back to walking but you're too impulsive. I'm not saying that's a bad thing, but it could be if you let it mislead you. But you have to learn how to think before you act, so I need you to promise us that you will. Okay?" He looked at her, a bit sternly, he did the best he could to help her understand that she got herself into this situation and he wanted to guide her out of this habit.
She looked at him, her gaze looking serious "I understand." Boss's voice was a bit more stern after hearing her answer, he replied to it to get his point across, "I need you to understand that you were seriously injured, you need to be more careful from now on Ash, you are very lucky that you're still alive. If you fell on your neck and it bent then you would have died." He sighed softly and his voice was less stern but still serious as he saw her eyes start to reveal that she was understanding his words and they weight they carried, before he resumed his statement he patted her head gently, "I need you to repeat after me, 'My actions that I take and do not take have negative and positive consequences' can you do that for me Angel Eyes?" She nodded and sheepishly repeated the words after him, "My actions that I take and do not take have negative and positive consequences." She started to really understand the words she respected.The commandos and Adam watched as Ash got the hang of the crutches and walking again, Sev was very happy to see that she was doing much better, and he spent a lot of time with her and Adam. The rest of the commandos, Omega, Zeal and Delta squad were finally able to take a much needed break and get some much needed sleep. Their anxieties were long gone now from having a 6 year old in their care fall from a tree and the 2 year old being in shock for a week, they were very tired and they slept all day.
Sev kept a watchful eye on Ash and Adam playing, he was there to stop Ash from pushing herself over the edge if needed, she was stubborn and still a child, she wanted to have fun and didn't want to quit. When Sev went to drink some caffeine he saw Ash try to run with the crutches and slip, and fall.
He spilled his coffee by sitting it down too fast then rushing over to her and thankfully she was ok, however she just had the wind knocked out of her.Sev sighed and picked her up, sitting her down on her bed gently and did the same with Adam, he met their pouty little faces with a scowl of his own before telling them sternly, "Alright that's enough you two, especially you Ash. You'll hurt yourself severely again." Ash whined, she wanted to keep playing with her brother "But Sev! I want to keep playing!!" He didn't budge, crossing his arms before telling her something else she needed to hear, "I know that but if you keep pushing yourself too hard you'll get hurt worse now, you are still recovering from a critical injury little sister, and you need to rest as much as you can until then. That is what you need to do and that is what you will do. Do you two understand me?" The young cadets nodded their heads at the same time, Sev smiled and pat their heads "Good, now you two stay here I'll be right back." Sev ordered them to stay in the medical bed together and he brought back some grilled cheese sandwiches, markers, and coloring books, he sat down with his two younger siblings, who eagerly and hungrily looked at the grilled cheese sandwiches, Sev handed them over and they were gone in less than 3 minutes in the hands of the hungry twins. He smiles and handed them some markers and coloring books over as well, he handed them over to their eager little hands before sitting with them on the bed and holding them on his lap.
He enjoyed spending time with his younger siblings, coloring with them. He turned on a movie while they were signing Ash's cast, customizing it and writing on it. They had a really nice time together, Sev was very happy to take care of his younger siblings until they eventually fell asleep. He carefully got up, making sure not to wake them, putting Ash's plush in her arms to hold as Adam slept leaning against her side, he tucked them in together, making sure their comfy before patting their heads gently, softly speaking "Sleep well you two." He then went to sleep in the barracks with the other commandos, getting comfortable in his own bed and wrapping up in blankets before he himself fell asleep soon after.
Everyone was finally at peace, the stress and worry they have been feeling had faded away, and they all dreamt wonderful dreams.{TO BE CONTINUED :3}
