"I am so glad this shift is over" Carina sighed "Drinks at Joes" Montgomery questioned followed but a lot of cheers "I think we are going to sit this one out, we just want to go home to our daughter" Maya replied "Thank you for filling in chief" Andy said once again "Thank you for having me" the blonde replied grabbing her wife's hand and leaving the station.

"Mama, Mommy" Lily beamed as her moms walked through the front door "Hi baby" Maya smiled picking up the young blonde and wrapping her in a tight embrace "We missed you so much bambina" Carina said joining her wife and daughter. "I am being squished" Lily complained "Sorry" they said at the same time "Mommy is going to have a shower and then I'll drop you off to school okay baby" Maya said "Okay" Lily simply replied "Where is your grandma" Carina questioned not seeing the blondes mom anywhere "I think she is still sleeping" Lily replied.

"Mom" Maya said walking into the spare room to see her mom still fast asleep "Maya sweetie" Katherine replied "Sorry I must have slept in" she added "It's okay mom I just wanted you to know that we are home you are welcome to continue sleeping" the blonde said leaving the spare room and walking to go and have a shower.

"I am going to take Luna for a walk bambina" Carina said grabbing the lead "Okay love I will take Lily to school and be back shortly" Maya replied giving her wife a quick kiss. "Okay I have to head off" Katherine said appearing in front of the Italian women looking flustered "Is everything okay" Carina asked "I'm not sure" the older women replied "What is it" the brunette questioned "It's Lane uhh Maya's father he says he is in hospital and that he is dying" she said "Please don't tell Maya I don't know if this is one of his moves to get back into our lives so I am going to go and investigate" she added "You cannot ask me to lie to my wife" Carina replied "No I'm not I just want to see if he is being truthful or not and well if he is actually dying I will tell Maya I promise just give me an hour to go to the hospital and talk to his doctors" Katherine said "Okay" the Italian agreed.

"Do you think Ben will be annoyed that I am going to be chief of the PRTs" Carina questioned "Well I mean he might be but you also have experience as a chief and well Ben has broken protocol so many times that the brass wouldn't promote him even if I put his name forward" Maya replied "Why do you keep checking your phone" the blonde questioned "I'm not" Carina replied "You have checked it at least 20 times the last hour" Maya said "coming" the Italian yelled out as someone was knocking at the door "Katherine come in" Carina said.

"Mom what are you doing back here" Maya questioned from her place on the lounge "Maya honey we need to talk" the older women said "What is it" the blonde asked concerned seeing the look on her moms face. "It's your father" she simply said "Lane, what did he do" Maya asked anger shooting through her body "No he didn't do anything he is sick and he is dying" Katherine replied "Oh" the blonde simply replied Carina coming to sit next to her. "Say something bambina" Carina said "What do you mean he is dying, how do you even know" Maya asked "His doctors called me I guess he never changed his emergency contact details, I wasn't sure if it was true or not so I went to the hospital and I saw him and well it is true he has pancreatic cancer" Katherine said relaying the information the doctors had given her an hour ago.

"How long" Maya asked "a few weeks at best" she replied "Okay I uhh I need to go on a run" the blonde said standing up from the lounge to find her joggers "A run" Carina questioned "Yes I am going to clear my head" she replied quick to leave the house. "He wants to seem them" Katherine said to the brunette "Them" Carina questioned "Maya and Mason and all the kids he says he wants to apologise for being a terrible father and grandfather" the older women said "I don't know that they would want to see him, and Lily is not going anywhere near him" the Italian women said "I know but I am going to tell them he would like to see them and they can make the decision" Katherine replied walking into the kitchen to make herself a tea.
