Notes:

Sometimes as a story unfolds, things that were supposed to happen later happen sooner. I was excited to get to write this talk between them, and it felt like it fit better in this chapter. I'm the one who has the worry about the flow of the story anyway hee hee. It's not like you lovely readers who are along for this ride can see behind the curtain all of the bells and whistles I'm juggling and rearranging as I spin this rotisserie chicken around in my head.

I don't know if I have to tag spoilers for Neuvillette's whole (4.1) dealio anymore but I will anyway, just in case people are savouring the Archon Quests and have not rabidly devoured them as I did.

Anyways, as always, please enjoy.

Neuvillette's quaint little townhouse is silent when he enters. At first, he thinks that Wriothesley might have gone back to bed, to sleep in a little longer, but that thought is quickly disproven when he hears the Alpha come barreling down the stairs. A warning snarl builds before it cuts off from Wriothesley's throat when he turns the corner and sees Neuvillette in the entryway.

He's already so protective of their home, the thought warms both Neuvillette's Draconic and Omegan instincts.

"Wriothesley," Neuvillette practically purrs his mate's name when he greets him, setting the book he's brought back on the small table in the entryway, "I'm home."

His Chosen does look understandably confused that he's returned so early but does come to Neuvillette when he opens his arms for Wriothesley. The Alpha hesitates for but a moment before he fully accepts the offered hug. A part of Neuvillette finally relaxes, and he purrs and nuzzles into Wriothesley as he holds him.

"I was given a week of leave due to our circumstances," Neuvillette says as he pulls back slightly, "I'm sure we can use this time to our advantage, and settle some outstanding affairs. And of course, get to know each other far better."

Wriothesley nods, his arms tightening around Neuvillette's waist. Unexpectedly, Wriothesley leans in towards Neuvillette and sniffs before a little displeased growl rumbles through the Alpha. Neuvillette's confusion is alleviated a second later, when Wriothesley nuzzles the crook of Neuvillette's neck and shoulder, understanding immediately what the Alpha is doing.

Wriothesley is scenting him. Neuvillette was inside the Maison Gestion, a hall full of Humans and their scents that would be strange to Wriothesley. Not to mention, Furina had shoved Neuvillette. Her scent must be all over him, undoubtedly further displeasing his Alpha. Neuvillette allows Wriothesley to continue, baring his neck happily to his mate.

"I dropped by the tailor's on my way home, to make an appointment for a seamstress to come by this afternoon and take your measurements. That way, we can get some basic clothing sent here for you before we can go properly shopping in the coming days." Neuvillette takes the moment to explain.

When Wriothesley pulls back to give Neuvillette an unsure look, he cups his Alpha's cheek and strokes it gently with his thumb as he continues, "Be at ease. I requested one of the Melusine seamstresses who work there. While we will have to one day reintroduce you to being around other Humans, I know better than to force you before you are ready."

That seems to placate Wriothesley, and he huffs softly. The sound one of relief.

Since the Alpha seems finished scenting him, Neuvillette gently pulls back from Wriothesley's hold to pick up the book on sign language he'd brought from his office. Turning back to Wriothesley, he takes his hand and tugs his Chosen into the sitting room. Wriothesley sits as close as humanly possible once they are seated on the couch, the book on Neuvillette's lap.
